  • Oh, fuck off.

Nobody is arguing that opinions aren’t allowed.

They shared their experience in racist terms. There’s no reason to bring up that they’re Indian. Your dating example is stupid and it would be sexist. How thick are you?

    Generalization is bad.

You’re racist. Face it and deal with it.

  • When they call all Indian immigrants incompetent because they work with a couple Indian people who suck, that’s textbook racist.

Otherwise, I could call all white people stupid, all Latinos insecure and lazy and all black people pushy. But, I don’t because I know their race, color or many other unrelated traits have fuck all to do with one person’s performance.

If you’re generalizing about a population based a few people, you are racist.

Based your other comments, you are pretty damn racist. Time for a look in the mirror.

  • Uh, no. This about professional golf. There aren’t “fat old people” playing on the pro tours. Strength is very much a factor. LPGA courses are shorter. Women’s average drive distance is about 45 yds shorter than the average for men.

You obviously don’t understand golf and made a lot of assumptions there. This a fairly reasonable rule. Probably unnecessary but better than an outright ban.

  • Not necessarily. Most backpacking is going to be down in areas close to fresh water sources and you’d be bringing a water filter.

Hiking/camping where you can’t easily find fresh water is quite risky.

  • Are you suggesting that people unsatisfied with a system that works mainly in the interest of a small group of elites will give power to some narcissistic, sadistic creep just to feel some vicarious sense of that power? It’s not like that could happen in real life, certainly not more than once in modern history. I mean, come on!

  • I like Stewart and Oliver but both have the schtick of “look how absurdly stupid these people are, we’re fucked, we must do better.”

That’s fine for what it is but what it is is watching someone else describing the scary thing and then express the fear you’re feeling. It’s cathartic but I think I don’t think it changes anyone’s mind.

People like Rogan get people to commiserate and identify with them and their feelings. Then, they come up with some crazy idea, institution or person to blame. It’s sort of the reverse order of Stewart and Oliver. So, they get people feeling first then get them to blame someone, the “libs”, usually.

The problem the Dems have is they still can’t show they are sympathetic to an audience like Rogan’s. Bernie can. But, even progressives like AOC, Tlaib, etc. don’t seem to be able to relate to rural/suburban, low-education, low-income people.

  • Look at their post history. They have serious issues that need to be addressed by professionals but won’t/are unable to get help for whatever reason. They post a lot of these doom and gloom questions.

They’re seeking affirmation that their life sucks and that there’s nothing they can do about it because that’s easier than addressing the problem. It’s a vicious cycle of mental illness reinforcing the mental illness. Internet conversations are not likely to be any help to them.

  • Over $100,000 isn’t exactly wealthy anymore. Under $100,000, in some areas, is a real struggle. The poverty line for a family of four if $31,000. You’d have to get pretty far past that to consider traveling for leisure.

  • Nice explanation, thanks. I would read more.

Do you also have brief, pointed argument against crypto/blockchain that you use in casual conversation? The subject comes up fairly frequently and I know it’s all bullshit but I usually struggle to explain why. What key points would you make to people who might be starting to get seduced by the hype or who are already sucked in?

  • That’s the probably the angle.

“His do we get entice people who hate cruise ships to get on a cruise ship?”

“Point out that, unlike democracy, it’s a boat that Trump can’t sink?”

“Hmm… you may be on to something…”
