  • I think it was a 1998-ish Pontiac Grand Prix. I dated two different women that drove that car and so I had to ride around in them and sometimes drive them. Both were just a train wreck of problems. They shook violently sitting at a red light, the brakes always seemed to be failing, and everything that could break was falling off the cars. It’s weird that two women I dated owned the same car but more so that they both had the same problems.

  • At some point, the association with Musk has to negatively impact the brand and I wonder if a portion of these headwinds are related to that. The demographic for Teslas isn’t going to be Texas conservatives so the people Musk is directly against are the same people he wants to buy the cars. I have to imagine that like myself, some people who would have probably purchased a Tesla historically would not do so now. I was thinking about going electric and getting a Tesla but won’t be associated with Musk. It’s a single sample of 1 so obviously anecdotal but I can’t be the only person.

  • I was an AT&T customer in 2001 but haven’t used them since and I’m guessing this leak will include my data as well. This is such crap. They ain’t offering me anything. They say it’s not impacting their operations but I don’t give a shit about their operations. It sounds like they covered it up for two weeks and are now trying to bury it. The government really has to start coming down hard on these asshats.

  • I was under the impression that insurance was needed to secure a mortgage. I live in an area that doesn’t have these issues but my mortgage provider was very clear to me that home insurance was a requirement of the mortgage. Maybe it was the mortgage provider I used? I thought everyone had that requirement. I live in an area with just about zero natural disaster concern or climate change concern.

  • I’ve used a duress password with crypto containers since the old TrueCrypt introduced me to it a while back. Sure you can have the password and unlock the vault but it’s just text file notes in there that aren’t at all important. In reality though, no one would ever give a shit about my data enough to even ask me my password.

  • Right???? I mean the options are to pay teachers according to the importance of the job which I feel like everyone agrees is high. Or, don’t be surprised when teachers are pulling side gigs. Like pick a lane. Don’t shame the side gig if you can’t pay what the primary position is worth. I’ve been making far more than this teacher for the past 20 years and my job ain’t even close to as important as hers. Not even in the same ballpark.

  • These billionaires don’t tend to think past their main interests which are measured in quarters. A fascist US would hold the value of currency probably long enough to not calculate into their concerns. The dollar will most likely take years to fall off a cliff so they’ve got 12-24 months and they don’t care about anything further out. Their long term assumption is that they will be part of the fascist gov and keep doing well.

  • I remember when I had the original iPhone with jailbreak I was able to use it as a hotspot without the carrier restrictions. Guessing it’s the same way now that it is handled in the OS and phone makers have carrier agreements to separate the traffic so people don’t use as much of their service as they pay for.

  • They could invade Maine which would kick off the Maple wars. They’ll start to eye Vermont and New Hampshire next. The US population will be powerless to resist as the Canadians lull the domestic population into submission with free healthcare and Tim Hortons.
