I completely agree to be clear.

But "major party" means something in election parlance, and unfortunately because of all the required strategic voting, it means NDP won't be at the next debate.

The election results (and polling on leader specifically) do not back that claim up.

Pierre is very not popular - when Trudeau quit he had a higher approval rating than Pierre. People this time were voting for the party, not for Pierre.

For the record, I agree with you - I live in Manitoba, with the highest indigenous and Metis population and a poor province. First Nation's people still suffer deep inequality and systemic barriers to success. That's the disclaimer.

Canada has made a tremendous amount of progress socially and systemically in a very short period of time. 30 years ago residential schools were still operating. Many forms of discrimination were still legal and socially accepted. Open racism was much worse. Many more communities had no water supplies and no economic prospects, and no federal government support.

Canada has a long way to go - hundreds of years of oppression cannot be undone in 30 years. But the fact that we're able to make progress so quickly is indicative of the fact that our society is free to push for these sorts of changes and see results. We have an Indigenous premier! That would have been entirely unthinkable just a third of a lifetime ago. Many forms of discrimination have been made illegal, federal funds have been directed for direct and indirect support, water plants have been built, languages are being taught and preserved, and the social perspectives are massively different. We have much work to do, but I don't think we should be dismissive of the systems that have allowed us to do lots of work already.

It's even simpler than that - the US is paying, actively, 20k USD per person at CECOT. The US is fully in control over that arrangement.

I'm the CEO of the Orange Company, an American company. I sell oranges for $1. It's the winter and Florida has no oranges for me to sell. So I call up a business in South America and have them send me oranges, $1 million of oranges.

The Orange Company pays them $1 million. When the oranges arrive in the US, the US Federal government charges me a 10% tariff on my imported oranges - $100k. The Orange Company pays the US government a 10% tariff, or $100k, for importing $1 million of oranges.

I then sell my oranges to American consumers. Because my cost of goods went up, I can't sell for $1 anymore. So I pass on the 10% increase in orange cost to my customers by selling oranges for $1.10.

That's what a tariff is, how it works, and how it is effectively a sales tax.

I personally disagree, but I see I'm in the minority on that. Oh well /shrug

A headline can be unfortunately written without it being a grand conspiracy my guy. CBC is pretty good - this headline misses the mark imo as it hides the fact that they were convicted on some counts.

The commodification of our most base needs, such as romantic relationships, is truly troubling. So much unrest because things like food, shelter, and reproduction are paywalled. Makes the population more vulnerable to fascist ideals.

The original image, and your extension, are an emergent behavior as a result of The Algorithm - due to "scarcity", Player B (men) is (are) encouraged to roll the dice as frequently as possible.

This whole dynamic is real, results in negative interactions for both players, and is intentionally set up by the apps to maintain engagement and extract as much money via pay-to-play advantages as possible. Dating apps are rigged to give men and women bad experiences so they (largely men) become desperate enough to pay $25 a month or whatever to have an unfair advantage.

The internet (and other players!) likes to hate the players, not the game, and the only "comfort" many young men have is Tate and Co.

Biggest thing so far is "go slow on federation". Large federated servers are where you get into trouble with resource requirements and needing to spin up workers, etc. Small, private servers are relatively easy.
