  • I tossed in $10. As a Floridian, it's the least I can do. An exampl needs to be set that if you do the right thing and stand up to these assholes, people will have your back.

Moral courage is great but people need to eat too. I'm also very glad we don't have state income tax so DeSantis won't see one red cent of these donations.

  • I literally just went to the links provided by the Buy Now buttons on the raspberry pi website and they're all there.

I feel like there's a Mandela effect thing going on with how people remember the price of pis several years ago. If anything, because of inflation, pis are cheaper now than when they released.

  • The pi3B+ and pi4B are still $35 for the 1GB models and have the same performance today that they did when they came out (and way more compatible software).

If all you're doing is setting up a tinkering lab at a school, which everyone and their mom seems to want to do judging by the comments, you can still do that. The only thing that has changed is the entry of the sbc choices. Raspberry pi hasn't gotten worse, the market has just caught up with them to some degree and that's fine.

  • I just watched a panel of undecided voters from PA on CNN. Of the 9 on the panel, 8 of them said they were ready to make a choice. 7 went for Harris, 1 for Trump, and 1 still undecided and leaning toward staying home.

That's just one panel, I know, but that's an astounding result. If we see even a 5-2 split in undecided towards Harris on election day it will be a massive landslide.

-edit- and it turns out the guy that went for Trump was a plant. Figures.

  • No, you use it as a media server. A media center can also be a media server but often is not.

If your pi is just reading files from the network, it's fine. If it's serving files, you're gonna have a bad time.

Use the right tool for the job.

  • They believe that we're on the precipice of creating agi. Agi, if invented, would be like inventing the nuclear bomb. Whoever does it first gets a massive leg up on the competition. Except in this case instead of destroying a rival with a bomb you just ask your Agi, "what's the best way to become the most profitable company in history" and it will tell you and it will be right.

  • Fwiw in Florida we have what's called a homestead exemption. You get a big slice of your property value axed for taxation purposes if you live in the home. You have to pay full tax on any other properties. I believe tax rate increases are capped for homes with the exemption as well, but that might be for all homes. I don't remember exactly.

  • I'm on a local government board. At the beginning of the meeting we all have to state our names and positions for the transcription. It is, by far, the most stressful portion of every meeting.
