  • No you dumbass they are going to be sent to get help.

Nearly everyone that attempts suicide and survives regrets trying and are glad they've failed.

Sorry for my strong language, but I've had friends and loved ones struggle with mental illness. A few have attempted suicide and either failed or have been stopped. I once took a friend's gun the day before he tried to commit suicide. If I had not done that he would be dead today, but today he is happy. He has a life worth living and is doing infinitely better.

Suicide attempts are a mental health crisis. In that moment that person is not of a sound mind and incapable of making that decision.

This is nothing like going to a doctor and seeking a medical procedure like an abortion. If anything this is like a woman throwing herself down the stairs in an attempt to end a pregnancy. They don't need to be allowed to throw themselves down the stairs. They need to be stopped and given access to proper medical care.

  • This hits way too close to home. In my time I have known many friends and loved ones that have dealt with suicidal ideation and a few attempts.

Every single one of them is doing better now. They've all built lives and are happy. They are all so grateful they failed or were prevented from killing themselves.

You don't turn a blind eye when someone is having a mental health crisis. You help them.

To your point in that moment they are not of a sound mind to be making that decision.

  • Or maybe it's the most cared for he's felt in a long time. There's something powerful about having that many people care and dedicate time to saving you.

The reasons for "why" he was trying to commit suicide definently would effect how he feels about this

  • So you're ranting about what exactly? Kanye has faced no repercussions from the government. The only thing that's happened was backlash from fans and private entities not hosting his songs.

Still trying to find the "attack on free speech" you ranted about

  • I don't know why this has to keep being repeated. It's not hard.

Free speech does not mean you are entitled to have a private entity like a website host your content or speech.

He is welcome to sing this on the streets. He is welcome to publish this himself, be it hosted by a website he creates or in a physical medium.

He is not entitled to it being placed on retail shelves. He is not entitled to have it hosted on YouTube or Spotify.

This isn't hard. The government of the United States has made absolutely no moves to silence this song. He can sing it and personally distribute it as much as he wants. But no one can be forced to distribute it for him

  • Archaeologist here, maybe it's just new wave training but widely taught that it's not an easy task to sex skeletons on morphology alone.

Sure some features appear more commonly amongst men and some more commonly amongst women, but there is considerable overlap.

Pelvis are generally identifiable, but the bio-archaeologists I know prefer to say the skeleton displays female characteristics without providing a definitive biological sex. They have to have some great evidence before claiming for certain.

Also fun fact, you can't measure this morphology when there's still skin and muscle fucking attached.

  • Nah that was their time. If you gave the average group of humans 40,000 years ago and an average group of modern day humans spears and told them to hunt a polar bear, the group from the past would be much more successful.

Obviously our technology today makes it an easier task, but I'm very impressed at what our ancestors were capable of.

Look up cave bears for a treat.

  • I think they would have won if they did. That was the number one complaint I heard from swing voters I know. They were upset that Harris was appointed to run and felt it was undemocratic.

Of course they voted for the fascist or abstained from voting so the fascist could win. Not the brightest bunch. Sure you have a reasonable point with primary, but it really didn't make Trump a good choice all of a sudden.

  • I think we're well past the chance of urban designing our way out of the climate collapse.

We need to make major changes in our consumption to even make a dent, but I say our best shot is cold fusion and carbon capture. Those are obvious longshots.

We've created a runaway greenhouse gas effect. Even if we cut emissions to 0 temperatures will continue to climb.

Obviously cutting emissions to 0 would give us more time to fix this mess though

  • Yes that does tend to be the trend, but there's also cultural effects on that as well. If we made more I would have kids, and speaking to my colleagues many of them would also want kids. But they can't afford to live.

There of course can be more than one cause for a trend, and I accept this is anecdotal.

  • That's the issue isn't it? Things aren't bad enough that armed rebellion would be successful. If you tried you'd die and the vast majority will simply call you a terrorist and move on. Maybe you'll get some popularity like luigi while the state works on executing you.

So instead people protest, but at best that may swing one or two votes in congress, but not enough to stop anything.

But as things get progressively worse and the state becomes more authoritarian revolution will also be harder as many will be tossed into a gulag before they can take up arms.

Plus any armed resistance will be used as an excuse to declare martial law.

Seems like a no win scenario. The current best chance is he has a stroke and Vance fails to govern effectively
