  • Except modern ARM chips are actually CISC too. Also microcode isn't strictly RISC either. It's a lot more complex than you are thinking.

There are some RISC characteristics ARM has kept like load-store architecture and fixed width instructions. However it's actually more complex in terms of capabilities and instructions than pretty much all earlier CISC systems, as early CISC systems did not have vector units and instructions for example.

  • ARM is load-store and has a relaxed ordering. Whereas x86 has instructions that can read straight from memory, and has Total Store Ordering. ARM also is fixed instruction width, where x86/AMD64 is variable instruction width. Outside of that the difference is mostly licensing.

  • The CISC vs RISC thing is dead. Also modern ARM ISAs aren't even RISC anymore even if that's what they started out as. People have no idea what's going on with modern technology.

X86 can actually be quite low power (see LPE cores and Intel Atom). The producers of x86 don't specialize in that though, unlike a lot of RISC-V and ARM producers. It's not that it's impossible, just that it isn't typically done that way.

  • Except that literally everyone who has empathy does selective empathy, even if not intentionally. You also can't really form an in-group and out-group mindset without empathy. Like if there was no empathy at all bigotry wouldn't be nearly as big.

  • I remember reading somewhere that men's buttholes are tougher than women's and therefore more resilient to anal sex. It was in a thread though where feminists were complaining about anal sex being degrading and potentially injurious for women, so take it with a grain of salt.

  • Most disabilities aren't like that though. In fact I actually think mental disorders are the most common these days. Though Arthritis (caused by age and genetics) is also very common.

  • being neurodivergent is not hated by society.

Neurodivergent people are mistreated by society though, regardless of if we are hated. Some neurodivergent people very much are looked down upon, bullied, and face massive discrimination too. It depends a lot on what kind of neurodivergence you have and how it presents to other people.

  • You are EatATaco, right?

The top level commenter was the one who made the comment that being gifted makes you neurodivergent and the comment that society doesn’t like neurodivergent people.

Yes and I generally don't disagree with either of those points. Gifted people are much more likely to have things like ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, and so on. Even if this wasn't true being gifted still counts as special educational needs at the minimum if not neurodivergent. It's also true that society often treats neurodivergent people (even gifted ones) badly.

I am challenging you because you essentially did the following: my son is gifted and can't be neurodivergent because he is (proceeds to list a bunch of things that aren't actually incompatible with neurodivergence).

You can be liked by your peers and still be mistreated by society, those aren't mutually exclusive. Normally it's through things like school and work not being designed for neurodivergent people as much as it is about outright discrimination.

    Do you get me?

  • You can be mature, well liked, and have leadership and people skills and still be a neurodivergent. Neurodivergent is a very broad category nowadays. People with things like ADHD and ASPD often end up being CEOs or self-employed. They are in fact overrepresented in those kinds of jobs. Not every neurodivergent person is socially inept or immature, to think otherwise is frankly abelism.

Heck even I used to be considered mature and capable at one point. Could never get away from being considered weird though.

Edit: Oh also if you look at the definitions and the way professionals use these terms being gifted is considered a form of special educational needs. Likewise you could easily make the argument that anybody who is gifted is by definition neurodivergent, as being neurodivergent just means you are outside the typical range of human neurology, which gifted people are.

  • You don't fight fascism by punching them, you fight them by making a country pleasant enough to live in that the masses don't listen in the first place.

    Why not both?

Punching Nazis is also pretty effective. The OG Nazis were beaten through superior force, not rhetoric.

  • While this all seems reasonable I would like to point out a couple things. First that ADHD is a real thing that people struggle with, and many are not diagnosed until after they finish school (or not at all in some cases). So yeah sometimes their are spurious diagnosis given by teachers (who aren't even qualified to give a diagnosis btw), but on the whole it's under diagnosed.

I also think it's good to point out that in a good education system you should have things like ability sets and G&T programs. When I went to school they had sets in secondary education at least, but not in primary education for some reason. Little funding for G&T programs as well. This doesn't make the greatest amount of sense, especially for people like you and your wife.
