I don't entirely disagree with you but, does every medium not have to compete with a growing backlog of classics?

Yeah, so you end up with a fraction of a fraction of the work time going to actually doing the block chain transaction, and the vast majority going into the artificial difficulty

I always thought it would be ideal to do this to create a powerful distributed computing network that can both serve to process the transactions made with the coin and also to do something useful, like folding@home or seti@home or whatever. But apparently nope, GPU crossword puzzles that do nothing but use electricity to make heat (and, as a fraction of a fraction of the work, process a blockchain transaction) are the best they could think of.

There is not useful work being done. They may as well be crossword puzzles. Some coins do use the work to do useful things, but bitcoin does it as a way of "proving your work" to earn coin.

The latter fills me with rage, the former feels reasonable

If you really want to dig deep about this, go to therapy. It is incredibly helpful for complex issues of self.

I mean on its own it doesn't, much like 1 person being vaccinated. But each individual who does it will perhaps inspire more people to do it and so on and so on. If it were to take off it could have a measurable impact.

Some people will do anything except use SI units

I wanted to love La-Mulana a lot. And I do love it for building some of the foundation that some huge greats like Fez and Tunic and Outer Wilds stand upon. But holy shit, the game doesn't want you to love it. The combat and movement are so punishing in an entirely unfun way. I stopped playing after getting what I understand to be like 70-80% of the way through the content the game has to offer and by the last ~20% of that I was dreading playing.

It is a game I have to thank for making way for the existence of some of my favourite games, but I hate it nonetheless.

I've been digging fucking deep with disco elysium this long weekend, started fresh after having dipped my toes in a tiny bit some years ago. 20 hours logged this weekend with more to come today.

The writing, worldbuilding, and atmosphere are actually just obnoxiously good.

I really do hope that deckard will include inside-out tracking even if it also supports base station tracking
