Sounds like my parents' kitchen. It used to be somewhat sensible, and my mother doesn't have much interest in buying stuff for it, but my father will just appear with things for her.
She's finally got him to ease off a lot lately, but he'll still try to persuade her to let him order things she doesn't need or want.
Stuff like this makes me feel it would be cool to organise a local "stuff club", where people would bring things for others to try out.
That alone isn't going to motivate many to bother, but there could be a sell/exchange/donate facility, in lieu of using eBay or Freecycle, and so less stuff ends up in drawers unused.
Guess it could hook in with local Makerspaces, tool libraries such as Men's Sheds, or even regular libraries. If in alliance with Makerspaces, repair & modification sessions would be a cool extension.
Ostensibly harder in smaller towns & in rural areas, but with less access to lots of physical stores, perhaps more demand for it?
Yay for comfier relaxation time, though I feel your pup is still glowering, even though you organised something suitable for you him. Probably just because you have the camera out, but am having fun with a little story about him ensuring his humans don't try rearranging things without his permission in future.
Similar suspicions on the low flow stuff. Feels like the plumbing at mine is developing various complaints, which are a little weird to troubleshoot, but maybe just that my energy is dire lately, so things feel harder than they would ordinarily.
Besides that, it seems some fittings have been redesigned to be more complex than they need to be.
Still not right physically, though can't tell whether just the effects on general condition of being laid low for a few weeks with infection & injury, or something else.
Either way, falling ever further behind on chores and such, not aided by a few emergent things that had to be addressed & which created yet more mess to attend to.
Despite that, an inadvertent & very bracing ultra-brief trip to the countryside, which verged on being scary. Got out of that unscathed, but a few steps back on overall physical recovery.
Otherwise, good conversations with my oldest & best friend. He makes me laugh so much.
Have also been enjoying a lot of the photographs of art posted here at Lemmy by craftyindividual Of course, have clear forgotten whether that community is part of Beehaw or not on artporn@lemm.ee, but the posts include a lot of old favourites and many more which are new to me. Yay.
They ordinarily attempt to double-speak the intention of these groups & roles in how they name them, or at least go for neutral-seeming, so a shift to a title which so bluntly states intent seems to me to indicate something. I don't know what that something could be, and drawing a blank when I attempt to speculate.
Last week was reminded that they unofficially appointed a "Minister for Common Sense" (MP without Portfolio, Esther McVey) but that seems a different flavour of brazen, openly mocking Orwell's warnings, but we also know it is designed to appeal to voters who are unable to cope with the complexity of reality.
Anyhow, enough of my pointless ramblings. Am off to seek further verification of this story. Well know Tories to be ghoulish, and those currently controlling the party to be especially so, but feel that think tanks, etc. mostly push to have their ideas adopted, rather than the party pushing them to provide ideas.
Which is a nitpick if the ideas are implemented, but an accurate view of the workings of these relationships seems a necessary aspect of a robust counter-offensive.
Here I'd think the dip into present tense is to create a sense of experiential immediacy as he gets into the flesh of the memory, then back to past tense where there is some cognitive distance from the situation.
Can see why they'd maybe be wary of getting into appraising open source projects if taking payments, but maybe something they could collaborate on with EFF & others. Maybe also that "alternative to" project, which doesn't currently focus on open source stuff but naturally covers quite a lot of it.
Oooh, this is exciting. Has been so lovely to hear all your updates about how things are going for you & this latest girl.
Have a beautiful time!
