  • Even if it is 10 degrees, I'll roll down the window and make a jackoff gesture. Fucking clowns. I have appointments near a Boeing office, you'll be shocked to know that more than a few Boeing employees drive Wankpanzers. Boeing planes are built to the same standards lately so it tracks.

  • Tim Apple, Nazi collaborator and sympathizer.

  • Both are the human equivalent of loud wet sharts.

  • That's a lot of questions, many of which I don't know. All I know is that it is possible for the US to close all the bases and live in harmony with other countries around the globe. It is, however, improbable due to immense wealth among industrial sectors in the United States who hold the actual cards. Their greed will inevitably lead to full scale war as they wither and cede power.

  • Toxic positivity: the new opiate of the masses as the world burns behind our screens.

  • There have been a lot of sycophantic comments floating around here the past 24 hours about how Apple was better because they didn't change it when Google did. Now the same folks are saying well Apple had no choice. So weird to lick the boots of trillion dollar companies.

  • You are not wrong. Seeing jingoism and corporatized patriotism for the sham that they are really opens your eyes to how much of it truly exists. A person who wants no politics in life is often fine with a national anthem, a gigantic flag stretched across a stadium, with jets flying over for a Cheez-It Citrus Bowl and has absolutely no idea that it is political propaganda for nationalism and perpetual war.

In my 50+years here, it has only gotten worse and worse. We've always stuck our military where it doesn't belong, back to the beginning with genociding indigenous peoples here. Now we stick military bases all over the planet and strong arm every other nation into unbalanced alliance. We create conflict for oil and to line the pockets of defense contractors. We aid those currently committing genocide and protect the perpetrators from receiving international justice. Nationalism and fascism snap together like two magnets.

Every time I am told to stand for a national anthem at a professional for-profit sporting event, I think of these things and remain sitting.

  • In St. Louis, nuclear waste in a landfill has caused cancer in north county black and brown neighborhoods for decades.

It is generally those who have not witnessed the ramifications of nuclear waste and/or disaster that are its proponents. Something that takes tens of thousands of years to decay, considering climate change, climate change catastrophe, movements in human population, and geologic change, we are full of hubris to consider it a green power option. But all the rose-tinted know-it-all tech bro will vote me down. Idgaf.

  • I never said anything about fossil fuels, and do not wish them continued use either.

  • Nuclear energy has a long tail of recent and less recent horrors. These horrors affect the globe in their consequences and should give great pause, despite the passive meltdown aversion systems being implemented in modern reactors. Being slow to implement nuclear energy plants is a feature, not a bug.

An important aside, humans generally have a problem with funding regulatory structures involved in keeping the public safe, constant vigilance gets an ax when budgets are manic. I certainly do not trust the US government to maintain regulatory pressure on nuclear power to keep the public safe from grave harm. Until the manic bipolarity of the current political climate subsides, this will be the case at the very least.

FWIW, if it is not clear, I see absolutely no reason to trust China on nuclear energy regulation either.

  • That ain't happening. If one were to occur here, a coup would be a popular movement or a military one.
