We have solarpunk's techno-realism though. It's not a political party, that's why many won't see it. But it's definitively there.. like open source projects, hardware, fediverse, and so on.
Firmware. The same things that Linux struggles to control any given phone fully with all the hardware that basically make a "phone" (gps, bluetooth, wifi, camera, accelerometers, etc.) for details, see https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Devices
Cyou count to 100? Learn quantum physics, compute the odds for each ball, and win the lottery. Easy peasy. I don't know why these kids can't thrive here in the future.

In all seriousness, learning c++ or any language is good advice but it may only be easy or even possible if you have a certain background of concepts. We tend to overlook those, and remember achieving a certain skill without the full picture
Agreed. And I have to say, to me it did seem like a reaction that came from rock bottom (in his individuality). And it was interesting to see other healthcare companies (like the one called blue-something) revisiting their recent measures on screwing people...
This reminds me of anarchistic work from Severino Di Giovanni..
iirc the admins and users from hexbear already moved to another platform (not lemmy), this is just what 1 admin decided to do some time before that 'split' happened (again, the majority already moved out)
I agree... like on a theoretical level. Then, USA is what it is, with their school shootings and all. So, what Luigi Mangione (or someone else) did should be seen in that context. There's a certain virtue in knowing to direct your anger/ despair to those causing, enjoying, and profiting over your misery. And it wasn't a mere revenge act, it is full of symbolism if only because here we are, discussing it.
Not one mention to moderation. The strength and focus of our "small isles" is on taking control of moderating the contents. We can stop fascists posts, and we can share alternative narratives (e.g. solarpunk) to Sillicon Valley. Plus, spoiler alerts as content warnings, etc. I think mastodon with their covenant is the greatest example of this ethos.
I've been playing Solo Self-Found (SSF) and even if you don't get the special stash tabs, you should know about setting up 'affinity' to your tabs so that Ctrl+click sends corresponding items to it ;)
But again, with a few bucks (I'd say way less than $30!) you can get some of the most essential 'quality of life' goodies. Currency stash tab being the most relevant.
Not a counterpoint, but to extend a bit on how it could be done: encrypted data. Or, self-hosting server part available, like Mozilla's (i.e. GarduaLinux has a fork of Librewolf/ Floorp, called Firedragon which uses their own firefox server for account sync)
I never thought of that, if you get a m3u8 playlist or are able to craft it yourself (and open in, say VLC) then you're done. Jellyfin supports IPTV (those, or any live TV streaming sites)... https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/live-tv/
Huh? I think you're on the wrong meme...
