I too would bet on Biden. I was just trying to stick to the facts. The facts are that they’re both old as shit. Biden is the same age as my grandmother. She has her wits about her. But nobody lives forever. I think a 5% annual chance of death is a fair assessment for anybody who’s 80. That’s still a 95% of survival.
According to Social Security’s Actuarial Life Tables, Joe Biden has a life expectancy of 7 years, and there’s about a 1/3 chance he will die before he is 86.
Trump currently has a life expectancy of 9 years, and there’s about a 1/4 chance he will die before he is 82.
So, as it’s looking now, regardless of the election results it’s about a 29% chance that the next president dies in office. At that level of risk you basically have to plan for it - or it would be foolish not to.
I actually dig the Native American, Mongolian, Japanese style. Like a few dark hairs, but mostly smooth. Sometimes it’s just like the mustache tips that get dark. Let it grow.
The question is: why are you shaving? Why are you so afraid of looking like yourself?
When you have a beard, people respect you. They listen when you talk and hold doors open for you. I have a hard time trusting a man with a clean shaved face, because our interaction is starting off with a lie. I feel the same way about makeup and fake eyebrows and plastic surgery.
Yeah it should be in between a draft and jury duty. I think there are plenty of really bright people who are smart enough to stay away from politics. It’s not just the working class who aren’t represented but also scientists, engineers, young people, or minorities. Two year terms, can serve multiple terms. Very good idea.
Not sure if you’ve been paying attention but citizens have no say over stuff like this. 99% of the politicians in office were placed there by rich people - they have the only true votes. The bill included money to Ukraine (great), and Israel (WTF), and Taiwan, and TikTok. It shouldn’t be legal to package all that stuff together, but it’s pretty standard. Anyway not sure who you’re talking to - there are like a few hundred politicians who supported this bill, most of them probably for other reasons, and none of them are on Lemmy.
Nope, but it is factoring in the fact of general age-related mortality.
The rate by which mortality increase with age is the same for those who experienced chronic disease as for the general population
