Yeah, understandable. On Lemmy World we defederate with those kind of instances because we know most of our users don't want that stuff.

Luckily the next version of Lemmy is around the corner and then you should be able to block those instances yourself.

No, there is no such option. Everything you post will be federated to other instances.

Yeah that's a known issue in Lemmy. Going to be fixed in v0.19

You can disable bot accounts in your settings so at least those don't show up in your feed.

Ok just want to make it clear that we never suspected Hexbear to be involved. This started before we defederated with them.

He is not simping, it's his instance so ofcourse he is giving his POV

It's one of the reasons why we set the default to 'all' instead of 'local' on LW

Which we did at LW. They started spamming some communities with this and we defederated.

Lemmy World defederated as soon as we became aware of this instance.

It is created by @rglullis@communick.news who said this was something requested by many but we really didn't see the advantage of it.

We do not make up for 50% of the active users. Also we have plenty of moderators and admins, reports get handled pretty fast. It's up to the community moderators first but if it takes too long one of the admins will step in.

And we will never close registrations.

We are not sure who was behind the ddos. It could have been that guy or it could have been users from exploding-heads.com because we defederated with them.

Or it could just as well have been an admins from another instance that didn't like LW was the biggest instance.

The only thing that was sure was that they knew very well how Lemmy worked and which actions caused the heaviest load on the server.

We couldn't handle the ddos at times, the influx was never the problem. Every time that did become a problem we upgraded the hardware.

He means it's not up to him to make sure the person serving him makes a decent wage. That's up to the employer.

Everyone who works for a company is a 'slave' we are all being exploited, some more than others. But if you make less than minimum wage without tips then yes maybe look for another job.
