  • Didn't downvote you but here's my opinion: many people in Gaza have died. The number is high - any number is too high, regarding innocent civilians. But these headlines are created by a terrorist organization with the sole purpose of riling people up and pushing Hamas' agenda against Israel. Aljazeera mindlessly regurgitating these numbers under the guise of "Gaza officials" is an idiotic farce.

How do we gauge the real numbers then? Ideally by 3rd parties providing numbers or verifying the claims but that takes time - if at all possible.

  • Leaving Gaza and Israel alone in dealing with Hamas lead to the catastrophe we have now. Believable outside actors are necessary to bring this to as good an end as is still possible using diplomacy. ISIS was beat down with violence - I think that is something that Israel is capable of without the help of an international coalition.

  • according to Palestinian health officials.

Thanks, aljazeera, I was really running low on imaginary numbers here. Now people can get properly riled up and "protest" for Palestine by attacking random synagoges and jews.

  • What a nonsense. Are those the same "doctors" who held a press conference among bodies on that destroyed parking lot that was supposed to be a "destroyed hospital"? They report whatever Hamas tells them to. There is no shock on my side - I'm sure many people have been killed and injured but reporting any number other than "many" is unverifiable BS.

  • "Gaza officials" aka Hamas present us another fantastic number after rolling their dice. Want the bombings to stop? Release the hostages and surrender. But we all know Hamas gives no shit about the people or peace - just as all their friends and supporters.

  • I'd hope Egypt would then work together with Israel on disarming Hamas on Egyptian soil.

  • "Hey stop bombing Gaza, they are not all terrorists!"

"Giving civilians refuge? But they are all terrorists!"

    The duality of Palestine.

  • Also, taking refugees means Gaza falls under Israel, because those people will not be allowed back in. Taking refugees in this situation helps Israel carry out their genocide.

How nice of Egypt to make that decision for the people of Gaza and refuse them refuge.

  • So Egypt's position is that the people in Gaza are subhumans who don't deserve any rights?

  • The only way to stop the bombing quickly I can imagine: a trustworthy 3rd party brokers a deal between Israel and Hamas. A deal that includes the hostages, disarmament of Hamas & Gaza and the surrender of Hamas personnel.

"We" cannot do anything in that matter, though.

If you kill everybody who is part of Hamas today, it’s not going to end the violence. We’re stuck in a systematic cycle of violence. Unless you’re willing to kill every Palestinian person, you have to deal with them as human beings if you want to end the violence.

This might unfortunately be true - especially after seeing the videos of how the terrorists tortured and murdered families in their homes. After Israel thinks Hamas do be destroyed / weakened enough it will result in a complete blockade from Israel's side that nothing will get through. It's on Egypt then, to keep the inhabitants of Gaza alive.

It might be for the better to 100% separate Palestina and Israel for some time so things can cool down and relations can be rebuild. As long as one side has the complete destruction of the other as its goal, talks are destined to go nowhere.

  • Israel created Hamas.

As long as people tell themselves fairy tales to blame Israel the conflict will continue.

  • No, the problem with the dialogue is people like you who claim absolute nonsense. The people of Gaza are bombed right now because Hamas hides behind them. Those who never supported Hamas and their actions are now trapped in with them because no one ever cared about them being taken hostage by Hamas. Now that Israel has enough and is going to destroy Hamas everyone suddenly cares about all the innocent people in Gaza.

The people who want nothing to do with Hamas are apparently not in any position to do anything about the terrorists who have Gaza in their grip. They should have been allowed to leave for the past years because as long as Hamas is in control Gaza is a lost cause. Want to blame someone? Blame Hamas, their supportes and all those who could have helped Gaza get rid of them but stood idly by for decades, happy that one in a while Hamas will launch a terrorist attack on Israel to draw fire on Gaza.

  • TIL firing rockets aimlessly at Israel to hit whatever just to spread terror and murder people is "defend itself". The "Free Palestine" bunch on Lemmy has completely lost it.

  • Yup. I see no problem with this change. EPub is an open format and one can easily convert existing ebooks.

  • Palestinian officials said

And into the trash it goes.

  • It's typical antisemitism to invent conspiracies to blame the jews for the ills of the world.

  • This isn't about killing people for revenge but the destruction of Hamas. That is now the goal and Israel will take every measure it needs to achieve that.

  • Well it'll be a DMZ inside Gaza with a very hard border that nothing may cross so it will all be Egypt's problem.

  • no answers, only downvotes lol

Users don't want to openly admit they want Israel to just die and disappear.
