In Austria, in theory there would be health insurance, but in practice most doctors are private, meaning that you have to pay cash. The reason is that being in-circuit (to use the US term) comes with a lot of requirements and can be stopped by nearby competitors, so most doctors just don’t bother.

There are a few YouTube videos out there where science communicators (one of them is Kyle Hill) do a few basic calculations on these projects and conclude that it’s impossible.

For example, the mirrors would need to be a swarm of satellites that are launched by hundreds of rockets every day for decades with no pauses.

Considering that it’s Google, they might have canceled it right when it took off.

I have one of these by Acasis. It has everything I need, SD card reader, HDMI out, USB-C out, USB-A, analog audio in/out, and an M.2 SSD storage expansion. The Deck can also charge through it at the same time.

I think the main problem is that I'm only prompting it with lost causes, when I was unable to find anything on my own with very thorough searches, because there just isn’t an answer available online.

I don’t go there first, because I'm always afraid of hallucinated answers, which are very common. For example, it often just tries to guess function names of programming libraries. That’s just wasting my time.

I also had that a few times, but it doesn’t make it any better.

It took civilization thousands of years to recover from that collapse. This is not something to be simply dismissed.

Also, in the case of Climate Change, it will take millions of years for Earth to recover once our civilization has collapsed, this is an even bigger hurdle.

Maybe look into the Bronze Age Collapse. It has happened before.

In my experience, Bing Chat is even worse, because it skips the part where ChatGPT is trying to come up with something based on the training data and goes straight to bad web searches with incorrect summaries.

I'm old enough to not needing a babysitter to use the Internet for research.

It even told me a few times that its training data is too outdated and that there probably was some progress in that area. I have to freaking push it to actually do a web search to update that knowledge with prompts like “You have web access, use it!”. It then finds a few posts on stackoverflow I've already seen and draws some incorrect conclusions from that.

I'm way faster on my own.

For my professional work, the training data is way too outdated by now for ChatGPT to be anywhere near being useful. The browsing feature also can’t make up for it, because it’s pretty bad at Internet search (bad search phrases etc).

XMPP doesn’t have encryption integrated. There were a few attempts at shoehorning encryption on top of it in a backwards-compatible manner, but they had issues with interoperability between clients, and also weren’t supported by all of them.

Usually this isn’t such a big deal, but I think that there’s a big overlap between people who care about encryption and people who care about federated IM systems.
