  • Ah yes, different sized pulleys would work the same as the gear train I had in mind. Thanks for the explanation!

Edit: on second look, it's more complex than that, as the weight is not connected to the end of the rope, but on a pulley.

  • Maybe I should add that I'm vegetarian. Perhaps animal fat and proteins are harder to clean in a dishwasher.

Pro tip: Peanut butter and egg yolks become immune to water when they dry. They don't go in the dishwasher.

  • Well, there is a reason I was trying to get rid of that printer 😅. The school had two Creality CR-5S that were donated from a Chinese university. You won't find anything about them online (except for one YouTube video describing how terrible they are). Not sure how much of a gift it was to the student.

  • So, I've had something similar happen to a creality printer, which was just the excuse I needed to bench it. I gave it to a student later, he plugged it in and it just ...worked.

So my first reflex would be to tell you to unplug it and hold the power button, to empty any residual charges/memory.

  • It can go further than that, i just limited it to a smaller size for my first real test. I told the software that I was drawing on an A1 sized paper. Drawing this across the full board would have taken forever.

There are a couple of no-go zones close to the corners. Longer belts would allow it to go lower, but then the counterweights would hit the floor when going up high and limit the drawing area there instead.

  • Last time I ordered from filaments.ca, I could only find half-size spool refills for PLA. Not super happy with it, as it costs pretty much the same as buying it on a cardboard spool, and the spooling process can be hit or miss.

Edit: I do like filaments.ca, just not the spool refills I got from there.

  • I upgraded my school's MK3s to MK3.9s, and while it hasn't gouged in the actual printing area, it has left a deep mark where it first extrudes a line of filament, on all of my sheets.

My problem is kind of the opposite, I feel it doesn't give it enough squish, and I'm having a lot of adhesion issues. There is also a new cold draft in the space however, so can't yet pinpoint the issue to this.
