  • American TV and movies after the '00s. Not representative enough of normal American life to be relatable (which is why I like '90s and '00s American TV so much) and not original enough to be interesting (which is why I'm into anime.)

  • It makes me feel like crossdressing, so I do. Occasionally I see an outfit that needs at least B cups to work (usually something with a boob window) and it makes me feel jealous I don't have that.

But I'm with you, I completely disagree with the comment saying men's fashion is interesting if you look for it. It's not, the only forms of men's fashion that are interesting are the forms that society has labeled "feminine." Going into a store and seeing all the men's clothes in neutrals and actual variety in the women's cemented my interest in crossdressing.

  • If Stone Temple Pilots ever does that acoustic tour focusing on their softer songs they cancelled due to COVID (they've toured since but not that particular idea.) Perdida is one of my favorite "post-prime" albums from any band, and in general STP's softer material is what makes them one of my favorites.

I'll go to see My Chemical Romance if they put out a new album.

    David Gilmour.

Weezer in a theater (I went to the Hella Mega Tour but Weezer I've heard is way better in a theater than an arena.)

  • I'm all for "vote for Biden period." IN THE GENERAL. Because while I think Biden getting the nomination is inevitable based on what the other Dem candidates are alone (Williamson, a kook, and Philips, who has nothing someone who doesn't want Biden to be the nominee wants other than youth) the primary does not have the stakes of the general.

  • The best I can make sense of it is that I make my money as some sort of emo catboy vtuber. Assuming I'm not already reasonably popular, that boils down to how good a streamer I can be and the economic factors of going into the EN vtubing industry after the initial boom. And I'm already at a disadvantage because "emo catboy" is a weak concept that lacks originality.

  • Look up Foundations of Geopolitics. It's just one man's book, but an astounding amount of what the Kremlin does now is in line with it.

I probably should've mentioned USA with those two, but technically the US is one of Russia's neighbors, and at least one Kremlin official has stated they do think the sale of Alaska is "illegal." Right now it'd be idiotic to try and enforce that, but if Russia gets too powerful I do think they'd go for it.

I don't think it'd be great to be an EU resident in a Russia led world either, but Russia wants to lead with the EU in it's sphere of influence; the express goal is to tank USA, Canada, and UK. That was the point of promoting Brexit and Trump (I don't think they've dealt a huge blow to Canadian society like that yet.)

  • I get not defending the use of DVD over Blu-Ray at this point, but the downsides of streaming and digital "ownership" have been a sizeable portion of tech news for a while.

And honestly? US/Canada using the standardized protocol and Europe using the walled garden developed by an eviler-than-normal corporation sounds kinda backwards from the cultural differences between US and Europe we usually hear.

  • US states don't have registrars (four cities do however) and even .us is pretty much only used for domain hacks vs. a lot of TLDs that are actually used to identify country (which I've seen a few people criticize Americans over, but while I don't think it had anything to do with privacy as much as Americans just getting used to everything being .com, I think that's ultimately a good thing.)

  • OutRun series, especially OutRunners and OutRun 2.

    Jet Set Radio Future.

Most people would consider it completely outclassed by competing Gran Turismo 3 and the later Forza Motorsport 1, but Sega GT 2002 is really nostalgic for me and I'd still love to actually beat it some day.

I'm not a beat em up fan but I'd call Streets of Rage 4 the best game in a genre I mostly don't like.

I also don't really like 3D fighters, but I greatly prefer Virtua Fighter and especially Fighting Vipers (and Sonic the Fighters but you said no Sonic) over Bandai Namco or Koei Tecmo's offerings.

  • I got Super Mario Bros. Wonder day one and it made me realize I don't like Mario nearly as much as I thought I did. And I already knew I liked Mario less than most people. It kinda made me realize the only games in the series I truly loved were Super Mario World and Bowser's Fury. If you include the alternate character spinoffs you can add Yoshi's Island to the list.

It's definitely the best 2D Mario since NSMB DS, there's nothing wrong with it and it's the most creative 2D Mario since World...but it still fails to stick in my mind the way Kirby games, Sonic games, Mega Man games, and more do. It was fun but it didn't wow me and I thought it was too easy (am I crazy or are 2D Mario games easier than Kirby games?) I'm glad I played it but I wish I picked it up sometime in the upcoming period when the Switch is completely removed from being current but not old enough to be retro.

What I've noticed about myself is that I'd pick a Sonic game that's considered "decent" or "debatable" over a comparable Mario game that people consider a GOTY candidate easily. with very few exceptions. And while Wonder vs. Superstars is an exception, it's only because of how godawful Superstars' bosses are.

  • Never. Like, I've browsed around a few times. /LGBT/ (when it wasn't people from /pol/ trying to debate trans people) was the only board of value...I can't put it into words but, it's the only board I think really lives up to the romantic ideals of what 4chan is. It feels... weirdly neither irony poisoned like the rest of 4chan nor dead serious and moralistic like the rest of the internet. Maybe the rest used to live up, I'm young so I wouldn't know (though I do know people were moaning about "the old 4chan" in 08.) But I don't belong on /LGBT/, I'm moralism poisoned.

Culturally, 4chan is a spent force, I think that became clear when every new meme from there was a Soyjak variant. It's a shame some channers think they're still on the precipice of internet culture. I just wish the ghost of /pol/'s influence would stop haunting my country.

  • TikTok basically controls the Billboard Hot 100 right now. Some say that's why 2023 was, according to a lot of pop music critics, such a bad year for pop.

But honestly, TikTok losing control over Billboard or less UMG artists on the charts are both positives to me.
