  • hence the inherent problem with crypto. you're always gonna end up with fascist billionaires at the helm when you essentially implement a vote determined by how much bro-tokens you own.

I'm not aware of any blockchain implementation that isn't just a reskin of late stage capitalism.

they call it "decentralized" when most of Bitcoin's mining power is centralized in the hands of a few shadow companies and for the proof of stake model it's centralized in the hands of a few wall street bros

  • I agree that DNS is horribly centralized and outdated, but tech isn't gonna solve this problem which is political. I think every TLD should be ran by a federation of independent worker co-ops managing each TLD autonomously. who then convene at a federation council to replace the functions of ICANN

  • Native and mestizo aren't the same thing. Mestizos are the people that assimilated and therefore enjoy privilege over indigenous people. identifying as mestizo is kind of the opposite of being indigenous because you're adopting a colonial identity.

We don't go asking Italians before we put stuff in Latin.

except Italians aren't being genocided by any state for being Italian. Latin would be Spanish in this context, not Nahuatl. Latin was imposed through colonization around the world. And before anyone brings up the Aztec empire, it hasn't existed in centuries.

Mexico forces Spanish upon indigenous groups to bring them closer to the conquistador ideal of a good Mexican citizen. them appropriating Nahuatl words to seem cool is more akin to racist Republicans stealing words from Black American English to market their products or politics.

Mexico is a bit different from America in their approach to assimilation in that they strive for mestizaje (making every Mexican mixed). You can see the ideology behind it in La raza cósmica.

I think it should be obvious why erasing indigenous cultures through state violence isn't a benign thing.

  • COVID is a horrible example to give for hand washing being effective as it's an airborne virus. like sure, handwashing is great for other viruses and will never hurt when doing COVID prevention but wearing a respirator is the actual best way to prevent contagion for anything airborne

  • this is the problem with liberal propaganda. it brainwashes people into thinking electoralism is where change happens. literally every single anti-genocide movement happened because people took direct action against the state. events like the Haitian revolution, the black power movement, queer liberation. politicians co-opt the discourse on the ground and then whitewash history into making people believe they're the ones who gave people their rights out of the kindness of their hearts or something

  • you will never be able to outcompete the 1% because the only way to do that is to exploit workers more than they do. liberal propaganda may talk a lot about how growth without harm is possible, but it's all just that, propaganda.

what I and a lot of anti-authoritarians propose is starting co-ops whose aim is to fight against competition, and to abolish the profit motive as much as possible. also organizing into neighborhood councils that function based on consensus democracy to autonomously govern the neighborhood against the wishes of oppressors like the state, the cops, landlords and the owning class.

the only way to escape late-stage capitalism is to go against this cancer cell ideology called infinite growth by adopting this thing called degrowth.

the Argentinian example is extremely inspiring for workplace self-management:
