let's say I'm reading an article on communism and the sources provided by Wikipedia come from Marx while llama regurgitates answers from US conservatives on Reddit telling me that communism is when no iPhone and you have state dictatorship.

even if I can't access the source in the moment, I can still tell that Wikipedia at least attempts to follow the scientific method. just knowing the name of the source tells me what useless junk to skip.

oh, and I could go to the library and ask them if they have my source available.

at least Wikipedia won't waste your time with misinformation. llama could be trained on the entirety of human history for all I care, doesn't matter one bit if it can't provide accurate sources and facts

offline Wikipedia on a phone vs llama which needs a PC:

2. can fit on most phones otherwise use SD card /USB storage
3. isn't full of AI slop

1. CPU: Modern processor with at least 8 cores

4. doesn't run on Android or iOS

also keep in mind most people outside of tech/gamer bros can't afford the financial investment for a PC that can run it. most people can afford an Android phone

I think it's impossible to have truly private conversations not just with therapists but with any kind of legally mandated reporter. at the end of the day, they'll always choose self preservation over losing their career just because the state is trying to disappear one of their patients. they can either hand your medical file over or lose their licence.

I'm sure a very small minority are willing to risk their licence by falsifying records (see partisan therapists during the Holocaust), but most of them aren't brave enough.

yes a lot of cultures went extinct but not because they didn't have writing. it's because there was no one left to pass on the knowledge.

if we think about it from the perspective of contemporary indigenous people, they know how to read and write English but that's a side effect of boarding schools. and it's led to more intensive cultural extinction because of forced assimilation.

tldr: some tribes had writing before Columbus, some didn't. cultural genocide is effective in both oral and written traditions
