  • No, there are definitly things that iOS has that are lacking on Android. Same is true the other way around of course. For example, Spotlight Search on iOS is awesome, Automations are a neat tool to have, Focus Modes - not something for me - but cool for those who want it, Lockscreen customization is really good now on iOS, Backups work way better, Idle battery drain - much better on iOS...

  • If you think Apple will implement these changes outside the E.U. you gotta be insane.

Also with the news that Qualcomm is hiking prices again, Samsung releasing their least ambitious Smartphone lineup ever this year, Oneplus annihalting their core audience, Huawei being banned, Xiaomi releasing the most confusing product stack imaginable, and Google taking another year off on adding meaningfull features to Android, is this really surprising?

  • Maybe its just me but I think ever since we entered the "Glass Sandwich" era its a lot easier. What I have lernt as a novice is that the screen is by far the easist thing that breaks during a repair atempt and luckily most glass sandwich phones can be opened from the back without ever touching the screen.

Back in the day with most Metal phones you were always risiking breaking the display. And especially old HTC and Google Pixel phones are a nightmare to fix.

  • To give you a rough idea - most 2D things like Stardew Valley, CoC or Evoland work fine, simple 3D games also mostly work (GTA 3, Subway Surfers and Riptide GP Rengedes on Medium), Minecraft however slows down a lot and hovers between 20 - 30 FPS.

  • I own 3 devices with the X20. A Chuwi Hi 9 Air, Vernee Apollo Lite and a Sharp Z2. The Vernee and Sharp can absolutly hang with Snapdragon 820 but get handly beaten by Kirin 950 and Exynos 8890 when it comes to everyday performance. The Chuwi Hi 9 Air though is often slow as molassis. Overall, very mixed bag.

And yeah, forget gaming - GPU is really underpowered.

  • Apple only opposes Google when new browser capabilites like PWAs, Bluetooth API, NFC API,... might be a threat to the Appstore monopoly on iOS.

I think they are very much onboard with this since it you could potentially make live hell for Hackintosh and Jailbreak users.
