  • This isn’t true. I’m constantly getting recommended all kinds of crazy right wing video nonsense and I have never clicked on a single one nor has the only other person in my house. They are picking up on something else or just pushing those videos in general.

  • I just wanna point out bigotry against nonwhites is in no way exclusively southern nor is it more prevalent in the south than other places. All your other points I completely agree with. Take a trip to the dakotas, Ohio, half the Midwest, anywhere rural even in progressive havens like Washington and Oregon. The list goes on.

  • And what about now? Are all of those same people denying what happened on Jan 6? How long do they get credit for again literally not overthrowing the government and the will of the people when they blocked any accountability for the perpetrators, continue to support the big lie that caused it all, and don’t seem to have the same fortitude if it were to happen in the future?

  • On one hand you’re moving goal posts to make them seem good. The bar is not literally overthrowing the government…great… on the other everyone’s tolerance for these folks in the party is just as bad as the bad actors because it enables and emboldens them. This is quite literally how the Nazi’s got into power. Because of people like you.

  • I sew and bake and no one ever says anything negative about it. It’s usually a topic of conversation. And back in the day when I had been called gay for enjoying baking by some insecure guy or weirdo girl I just laughed it off. Because it was usually after they finished eating a delicious treat I made and brought into the office or something.

  • Organized hobbies have been the key for me. Gives me a place to go, forces me to be minimally social, but can allow for multiple events so the pressure is reduced to make the most of every outing. Plus you have something else you’re enjoying. Everyone’s recommendations of sports or gaming falls right in line with this. But I have other hobbies I love like woodworking that I can find places to take classes and meet people. The other benefit is the more you do it the more you get used to be out among people again and it can be less awkward/anxiety inducing.

  • I don’t think that’s relevant. A black cop killing a black man is still a cop killing a black man. It’s the institutions and systems that are racist and thus folks within them that also act that way. Hence the whole bad apple thing.
