  • I definitely agree that they will try, but I’m sure the average FB/Insta/Threads user won’t go through the process of installing a third party store just for those apps, particularly when they’re already available on the App Store. With something like Fortnite that’s not available I could see it. But with Meta products I doubt it, particularly with the older, less tech savvy crowd that tends to use them.

  • Fair enough, but it’s usually either pay or let yourself become the product. For what it’s worth, instead of having to append “Reddit” or other items to get proper results, Kagi actually lists useful results. And for the number of queries that I’ve run this month, it’s less than 1cent a search. Not having to shift through all the shit results is worth 1cent to me.

  • Orion (when it works 99% of the time) on my Mac. It’s pretty much all the benefits of Safari plus the ability to run some Firefox/Chrome extensions. I know it’s not FOSS yet, but they at least claim to be working on it. Firefox for the other websites that don’t work on Orion (very rare), and Chrome for the others that don’t work well at all on Orion/Firefox (almost never). I’m planning on deleting Chrome overall soon.

  • You could always setup a Tdarr instance on another, powerful server (that you don’t have on all the time) that can crunch through everything to make sure it’s the right file type.

  • Exactly. It seems like a lot of the research in this area is quite new (last 5 years or so), so we’re always learning more! And from my understanding, the LD50 probably isn’t that important for most people for these toxins, it’s more at what levels do they start causing detectable symptoms and by how far do they raise your risk of cancers and other diseases. “The poison is in the dose”, but just because it doesn’t kill you instantly doesn’t mean it’s not hurting you in the long term.
