  • Yeah, I'm not so young. Like, I agree with you on one level,.it gives the company less control to rug pull on you and slide in a whole heap of enshittification. It's the shitty behaviour of some companies that makes subscriptions painful.

  • It's not really. Unless you can only expect to pay once for software and never expect any updates. Software development is expensive. And even self hosted stuff requires constant attention.

In some instances, well most, its egregious. But the concept itself isn't flawed.

  • Racing vehicles is actually very physical. Especially at the top flight. The speed through corners puts a lot of stress on the body, just look at the necks of the top racing drivers. They're usually pretty small guys, but are often incredibly fit. Valterri Bottas, an F1 driver, also mixes with the guys at the elite level of cycling.

Dana Patrick is probably the most famous recent driver, but of all time, (and the most successful) it'd be Michelle Mouton by far. People might know of Sabine Schmidt and Susie Wolff, both retired, but it's likely because of their achievements off the track, despite them being motorsport related.

  • "better" is subjective. There's a pie, and creators get a portion of that pie depending on their portion of the volume of total views. It's a pretty fair and sustainable way for the company to pay creators decently.

So they do get paid by your personal views, but your subscription isn't individually divided. Every subscription is.

The better part comes from, they get paid more per view than from YouTube.
