Exactly. Because the only ones benefitting from lower cost labor are those who own or run corporations. Workers will just lose jobs and there is no guarantee enough new jobs will open up once things settle.

True, a lot of institutional knowledge gets lost. Although we have been landing probes on Mars for a good long time. I can't imagine the level of precision and complexity required even to crash something on the moon much less land in one piece. No doubt a lot can go wrong. Maybe the lunar surface at the landing site is less even than expected or less even than mars or... Idk.

My mode depends on what I'm shopping for and how much time is available, whether I feel like wandering, and whether I know the store at all.

Let's say I need, idk, a 6TB drive from Microcenter but I have like an hour to get it. Combat mode.

By contrast, this morning I felt like looking for some used blu rays at the thrift store and also felt like being a looky-loo.

If it is something we are both shopping for like garden decor, or we are there to browse like for antiques or furniture, then it's fun browsing.

I kind of feel like combat shopping is better solo. Unless the person can walk fast and help me find the thing if I don't have precise Intel on location.

Having another person could be redundant unless you don't know exactly what you want and need to compare and discuss a few candidate items.

So like, what's wrong with showing a black Pope? Why should we assume hypothetical Popes can't be black? Pope Francis appointed the first black cardinal, Wilton Daniel Gregory. It's bound to happen one day. And I don't think it hurts for people to be presented with that possibility. I think that's good. Of course the Catholic church is problematic but this isn't about that. Like, asking for a pic of someone in a position of power should absolutely show diverse people.

But like.. In terms of historical accuracy it seems just as insane to show ethnically diverse Vikings as it would be to show ethnically diverse Mongols, Cheyenne, Zulus, Bolsheviks, etc. Right? Now if I ask for pics of fantasy-world Vikings (etc) then go for it.
