  • Fair point. It is consistent, in a shitty horrible way, but it is there.

And yes I do agree. If someone would make a copyright system that promised the creator would get paid and was reasonable in duration I would support it. Yes, I do think creatives should have control over their work and be paid for it. The nuts and bolts of how that can be achieved I admit I am not sure of, but I am confident better legal minds than mine can work it out. However, given that no country is going to build such a system I don't support copyright in any form.

Corny capitalism is the worst fucking way of doing anything. It is better to have literally no system than that.

  • Well a nuclear war would be one way to end the conflicts in that region. Therefore he isn't technically wrong in that it would stop the Iranian program. All that needs to happen is to convert 411 million men, women, and children into radioactive dust to make sure that there is finally peace. Also, it seems to be what the local population wants as far as I can tell, meaning it would be democracy in action. Don't worry if it happens, skydaddy will take care of them.

  • You would be surprised all the paths that go that way.

My wife is a nurse and she worked for a traveling nursing outfit which is fully funded by Medicare/Medicaid. The outfit has about ten nurses and is owned by another group, which is owned by Catholic Health Services, which is owned by the Archdiocese of Miami...all the way to the Vatican.

American tax dollars finding along a complex path to the Pope.

  • Lemmy: copyright is bad

Also Lemmy: LLMs are evil because they use data that was put on the internet and anyone could have read.

Maintain a consistent position. I want copyright to be over. That means for everything every-it and everyone. From your local sewing circle, to children in refugee camps, to awful dictators, to LLMs, to hypothetical alien life forms living among us. Everyone! No exceptions. Information should be free, culture should be borrowed, derivative works should be praised.

  • Nothing really. By then everyone in my household will hold dual-citizenship and be able to leave when they decide the situation has gotten unacceptable.

I won privilege bingo so me personally am in no danger, at least for the foreseeable future. Work in the infrastructure sector and plan to go down with the ship. You guys have fun with your civil war and genocides, I will keep the garbage and sewage at bay. At least until the secret police get to me and put a bullet in my brain.

  • Up until fairly recently, Orthodoxy was not a strong influence on Russian life.

Someone should have informed my grandmother and all her old friends of this fact, since they were evidently confused.

You seem very centered on Abrahamic religions

    And?

  • Do any full adults bitter about incidents of their childhood really think it was out of spite? I just want a simple yes or no. Like the teacher gets paid either way, and it must be awkward as fuck to drag a shy kid out a bit who is going to be wrong. I just wonder if people really really believe this was out of malice.

Johnny knows the answer, Johnny always knows the answer, Johnny shouldn't even be in that class, and yes Johnny puts his hand up each and every time. Tim might know the answer, might not. Tim never talks. Tim is in big trouble grade-wise if he doesn't know the answer on the next exam. So give him a nudge, make sure he knows that he doesn't know, and maybe he will study. Cause if you let Tim just sit and space out they are going to get an F.

Anyway back to your bitterness. I am sure it is perfectly reasonable to be a 32 years old upset about being called on by teacher when you were 11.
