I think they worship opulence rather than power honestly. While it's true that wealth and power are basically the same thing, many people you bump into in America don't understand or believe that is the case.

Cringey doesn't even capture it for me. Seeing him with that stupid chainsaw and especially the way he said that chainsaw for bureaucracy comment made me feel disgusted in some way I didn't really think was possible.

After seeing Trump utterly dog walked across the stage in his debate performance and still win the election, I have lost any remaining faith that some great Aaron Soorkin-esque moment will change a fucking thing in this country.

Anyone that thinks you have to come off as "polished" or intelligent to bankers and businessmen in order to get money out of them is clueless.

I think that word substitution is a necessary part of the logic of the people who see people other than themselves as inherently less than them and deserving of suffering if their health would cause them even the slightest inconvenience...for lack of a better word I'll call these people "the cullers".

The cullers see the deaths that occur from disease as just being "nature taking its course". It's only a small step from "healthy people don't die of this" to "they deserved their deaths because they're weak" and then a slightly larger jump to the even more horrifying "we should kill off the weak on purpose in the name of efficiency".

Extreme programming is basically pair programming. It sucks and doesn't work. Cucumber is also known as "behavioral driven (design/development)" or BDD. It manifests as test documents written in "plain English" that are executed via code. It inevitably becomes unit tests but worse because it's based mainly around regex matches to bits of text within the steps.

Eventually the only way rich people can get richer is by stealing from other rich people because the economy is so heavily weighted toward the rich that there's just no money to extract from the poor. I think that's related to what we're seeing here .. And probably everywhere else as well.

He wrote some hyped up programming books and he was involved in the creation of extreme programming (a bust), cucumber (an almost completely useless waste of time), and agile (an ok idea but in reality it's a huge bust, it's biggest effect is that management tells everyone "we need to be agile" all the time).
