Japan’s culture is that you normally take your trash with you. Like I said, there are places the public can throw stuff away. But that’s not normal and you shouldn’t count on it.
Most all of the places tourists visit in Japan are not resorts built for their enjoyment, but a functioning city or social center where natives live and work (including historically-famous places like Kyoto).
Maybe tourists need to learn to hang onto their junk until they get back to their hotels.
Apart from the individual kindness of convenience store and private buildings, there simply are no public trash containers. Especially in tourist areas, double especially in nature preserves.
Tourists tend to mash garbage into bottle recycling bins and places that clearly are not meant for garbage.
The original plan was for him to be imaginary. For a long time, no one else on Sesame Street could see him. But it became upsetting to viewers that everyone laughed at Big Bird when he said Snuffy was real, so they wrote an episode where he introduced himself to everyone and from then on he was a regular part of the cast.
