  • They got a bunch of a valuable resource, and they're going to maximize its value by... not selling it...? So they've been taking lessons from debeers I guess?

Here's how that plays out when it's a critical resource and not a frivolity... the people who critically need it will establish the resource somewhere else. Lets say you own 50% of the current output. That 50% will be made available somewhere else somehow, because it's critical. Now your 50% is only 33%, and it's criticality is significantly less, and you can't sell it for as much as you used to be able to, IF you can even sell it at all, because you were a dick when people needed it and didn't have it, and the world remembers that kinda shit for a while.

And of course, if it's critical enough, there are some pretty big militaries out there that might come knocking...

  • How is an EV harder to repair on your own than an ICE? I think you're wildly underestimating the shade tree tinkerers of the world.

Sure, an EV contains a bunch of proprietary software and configuration, but so do ICE vehicles, and people have been hacking that shit for decades. They'll swap out the whole ass controller if that's what it takes :)

  • A gas car costs twice as much as a gas car after like 100k miles or so... you end up paying for some random ass shit that broke every couple months. Alternator here, transmission there, radiator, head gasket, O2 sensors, rusted out muffler, injectors... it's not like your gas motor just keeps on trucking forever and doesn't nickel and dime the fuck out of you as it ages. An EV is mainly just gonna lose some capacity as it gets elderly, and isn't likely to have random little repairs as often.

If you ain't super well off, you roll your shit til the wheels fall off, and with an EV, that's just going to mean that the Tesla that goes 300 miles on a charge today, in ten years, is gonna be a Tesla that goes 150 miles on a charge, and there's going to be people that will rock that old ass battery pack for as long as itll keep rocking, and a lot of those packs aren't actually going to get replaced at the age everyone is claiming they will be.

Battery pack might be the whole ass cost of the car, but poo-pooing EVs over it is disingenuous if you ask me.

  • "they" simply put it up for sale... pharma buys what they need to make however much medicines will sell, and tech buys what they need to make however much batteries will sell.

I'm relatively certain the amount purchased by pharma will be miniscule as hell compared to what tech will buy. Lithium batteries are everywhere. You're probably staring right at one :)

  • Very non-swing state. My electoral representation has voted all red since 1968.

The independent count had been slowly rising since Perot, but trump kinda broke the streak. Lots of support for that clown in my neck of the woods, but it's all trump specific, so if we see a desantis or Abbott on the ticket, there's a good chance there will be a surge in libertarian votes. Could plausibly end up with a few independent electoral votes popping up again maybe.

  • Trump isn't being impeached... He's a normal person facing normal charges, and I wasn't talking about anything current involving his dumb ass...

The current "both sides" narrative is that anything moderate is a "both sides" defense of trump. The narrative is join the Democrats or you're a diesel truck owning, trump supporting, racist nazi wannabe... it's wholesale virtue signaling tribalist bullshit... Congrats on falling for it.

I'll be wasting my vote on independents until one or both tribes grow the fuck up.

  • I've voted for third parties for 30 years with a few exceptions. I might only represent a single digit % of the population in doing so, but that number is growing. Independent voters have grown large enough in number to have had laws written to preserve the binary stupidity, we aren't many, but we're enough to have an impact

  • What impeachment means has been diminishing for a fucking hot minute now... like decades...

One need look no farther than two words to understand this. The words your man.

It's become a stupid junior high finger pointing game to these assholes (ALL of them. I'm not referring to either tribe, I mean government at large). Trumps impeachmet would have been far more effective if it wasn't seen as a "your team did a no-no" politics by republicans in general.

I dare you? Seriously? Come on... Please tell me people understand this is garbage leadership in every single seat...

I do agree with the man about calling out bullshit, but I disagree on the "sometimes". Should be every time :)

  • It's more bitching that the type of person who believes in CRT would shove this headline under my nose as proof that CRT exists...

It just proves someone's a virtue signalling asshole in my opinion, but try telling that shit to a trump fan. They'll insist over and over and over that the whole ass government is responsible for CRT, that it's federally mandated curriculum, that they want to round up all the white people.

Shit like this article is feeding the fucking trolls, for no good reason, is why.

Edit - I suppose I should mention I live in a pretty rural area... Lots of right side bias in my daily life, and Im not a fan.

  • Fucking humans... humans are on the line. I couldn't fucking care less what sort of humans, humans are humans. I'm pretty indifferent, why the fuck aren't you?

Because tear jerky headline good? For every one of you, that are offended by melanin rich humans getting cancer, there's some fuckhead out there that's gonna say that this article is critical race theory something something... My point is that nothing in the article is about people, they just wanted a knee jerk. They got yours obviously, and frankly I don't mind yours, but the other knee jerks too and they piss me off.

Answer the fucking question though... Where's the actual fucking concern for these people in this article? There isn't. Author gives zero fucks about those people and didn't say a fucking word about them other than mentioning their skin color. Fuck that. Article is bullshit. I don't give a fuck about some shitheads that can't manage their money even though they clearly have quite a bit, and that's the fucking story, not the historically black community. Fucking read it...

  • Pretty sure shit like this is the genesis of all the critical race theory bullshit... Why does race matter to this story at all? Race is mentioned a single time in the actual body of the article.

It's an article about wealthy people who shouldn't be wealthy, because they clearly can't actually invest in anything worth a shit and are just shuffling numbers and abusing laws the way trump does...

And yet there's that title, implying that they're doing it all simply to screw black people.

If it's an article about the residents, where are the numbers? The rates of cancer in that community, a name, an interview, a dollar amount in damages to a typical home in the area, a fucking opinion from a few, or even just one... author doesn't give a shit about the people, they just threw that shit in the title because there's a whole lot of people that will automatically hop on their bandwagon over it... That's not equality or positive rights, it's abuse. Author is using the fact that it's a black community as a tool. The residents aren't relevant for a god damned thing to this fuckhead besides extra clicks.

Whole ass article is about money. Can't afford to maintain a simple coke plant, can't pay their taxes, and yet you call them wealthy a dozen times. They don't sound wealthy, they sound like bullshit hucksters.

The price we pay for this sort of bullshit is that a fairly large number of people won't see this bullshit and think the author is shit, they'll see it and think the black people are shit for "being entitled", when the reality is that it's just a bunch of random ass humans that don't want cancer... I'm pretty sure nobody wants fucking cancer...

  • It wasnt a protest, it was an assault, and the alleged criminal is denied his home already by virtue of being incarcerated... The threat is that they blow his family's home up and leave them homeless.

So it's "piss us off and we make your whole family homeless", which is behavior generally attributed to criminal mafia.

  • Not as bad as it was pre-covid, but yes, this is still definitely a fucking thing...

I appear to be immune to it, I'm retired military and went looking for work more as something to do than something to pay bills, and literally nobody gives me shit about anything, I have a very obvious no-fucks dispositon. I see how they treat coworkers though and seriously wonder how the fuck the state of what people believe individual liberty should be has gotten this fucked.

I literally watched someone hand over their cell phone to a manager so they could go through their Facebook messages a couple days ago... That manager has never even asked for my phone number, and I'm 100% certain she wouldn't ask for my phone. She just pushes certain people because she knows she can.

  • "This is a lightweight "bubbly" form of concrete used widely between the 1950s and mid-1990s - usually in the form of panels on flat roofs, as well as occasionally in pitched roofs, floors and walls. It has a lifespan of around 30 years."

A concrete panel expected to last 30 years was installed in 1995, in what year should you replace it?

What year math is that you suppose? Third grade? Fourth grade? Just asking...

  • Go on google or Amazon and search for shower valves, you'll find pictures of what's inside the wall behind the chrome plate you got there... seeing images will give you a better idea of what to expect than anything anyone can describe.

After that, go take the knob off your shower valve (probably the center cap pries out, you take out a screw, and it pulls off), then take off that chrome ring (Allen screw on bottom, or it might just get pried off carefully or unscrew the whole thing, they vary). Have a look... that'll tell you what your specific type of valve is and if you can do this without making a big ass hole in a wall...

Then figure out what's on the other side of the wall the valve is on... if it's a closet, maybe a big ass hole in the wall is ok? A big ass hole in the wall of the shower will involve tile. I'm thinking based on your description that you should 100% not fuck with tile. You'll get into all manner of special tools, special skills, etc. real quick with tile :) a hole in drywall in someone's closet might be a homeowner kinda deal though tbh.

Those three things are hopefully enough to answer your own questions, because the real "no bullshit" answer is that it depends... pex, copper, iron, delta, thermo, yadda yadda yadda... The shit inside the wall is as varied as the shit on the outside...

I could do this myself, but I wouldn't... sink, toilet, ice maker, leak in the crawlspace, move the hose bib outside to the complete other side of the house, replace the water heater, add an expandion tank, all that shit is an immediate "fuck no im not paying soneone to do that, ill do it", but a shower valve is a hard no :)

Have a look by all means, no harm in checking it out, but I wouldn't be too optimistic in your shoes.

  • Why all the fucking lawyers (indictment of them)? Why a massive laundry list of false statements, false testimony, et al? Why not charges of sedition, insurrection, electoral fraud... the shit you're talking about.

Nobody is being charged with what you're describing. If that's what they're trying to prosecute trump for, then fucking charge him with it. The Twitter bullshit was sedition. The pence shenanigans was electoral fraud (maybe not pence personally, but the conversation was absolutely fraud on Trump's part).

I'm not quite willing to go as far as calling that stupid a coup or any shit like that, I don't think it qualifies, it lacks the organization, planning, and intelligence... but we have words that describe it perfectly accurately... Like sedition. If trump called for the jan 6 crap, that's sedition. If he tried to affect the conduct of an election within the electoral college, that's electoral fraud. These are felonies man. Big time shit.

What that mugshot for again? Mishandling documents? False testimony? That sounds exactly like what you're describing... Not...

The charges reflect a fishing expedition. We don't like this guy, lets dig some shit up... trump up some charges to use an old phrase that's hilariously apropos. Let's go for all his lawyers, all his buddies, anyone allied too close, and that is the comparison to old school Russia, political officers fishing for shit to gulag someone over...

The genesis of my concern however, isn't actually trump or his cronies, I don't give a fuck if he gets prosecuted at all (id love it if he'd acquire some fucking obscurity though, the fact that he's still so relevant is garbage). The genesis of my concern is the normalization and acceptance of all this. They're going to go after Biden on a fishing trip, because we the people aren't calling out the current fishing trip. Ya know? Aside from the normalization of it, I kinda don't care. My pony was definitely not in defense of trump, and frankly, I know full well that i cause shit assumptions with stuff like this, and don't fucking care about that either. Just trying to be a moderate voice of reason in a very tribal political environment (which is to say that I don't really disagree with you)

  • I moved out at 14, so I'm gonna go with yes, but I'll caveat that I got a pretty heavy bias on the issue :)

I will say that parental consent is a shit answer. The kids capable of working consensually likely won't need it.
