my first 'distro' was slackware, on floppy disks. then debian or a flavour of, mainly, ever since. i've never really strayed too far from debian and apt over the years but i have tried most everything.

if you don't mind the login requirement and the target video isn't drm-'protected', you might be able to pass the login credentials or browser cookies--whatever's needed, to yt-dlp and download the video for later viewing in the media player of your choosing.

but i think they're confident that they will not have to give up anything tangible in the current proceedings. toss a little more money into the diaper pail, case is mysteriously dropped or government remedy neutered to a "try not to do that again".
