  • Delicious, delicious casserole

  • This is kind of long, but hopefully it'll help you out.

I've used Healthy Paws, and I currently have Embrace.

I was very happy with Healthy Paws. I did a ton of research before going with it. I adopted a 6-month-old kitten, and it turned out he had a congenital heart defect. I got him the best care from the best local cardiologists. He lived a relatively long, happy, pain-free life. And I got back MANY thousands of dollars over the years. Not once did they ever give me any hassle. The app was great. The customer service was excellent, and everyone I talked to on the phone was very knowledgeable. Plus, they were all animal people, so they always seemed happy I was getting him good care.

Unlike most pet insurances, Healthy Paws has no annual maximum. Because of that, over the years, as he got older, premiums started to go up significantly. I still got back way more than I paid into it.

Now, I have a different cat. I got him when he was tiny, and I went with Embrace. I'd heard great things about Embrace, and because it has a $1500/year cap, premiums don't increase quite as much as with Healthy Paws. (And in the past, I'd never come close to spending that much in over year.)

And my cat has an autoimmune condition. (What're the odds I'd have two on a row with big medical bills?)

Embrace is good, but it's not AS good as Healthy Paws was.

The Embrace app is just okay, though it works most of the time. Customer service is just a little less knowledgeable. I had trouble with one of his early claims - but only with that one claim. For example, he just had a $5000 set of biopsies, and I expect to get 90% of it back.

If I had to do it again, would I have stuck with Healthy Paws? I don't know, honestly. I miss their customer service, but I know it would've cost more over time.

I used to work for a major insurance company, so I understand how insurance works. I'm a fringe case, most folks won't make as many expensive claims as I have. And I happily pay to insure my other cat, too, even though I've never had to file one claim for her.

Happy to answer more specifics about the plans, too, if it'd help you.

  • Thanks for sharing this. I try to block people who post a multiple communities at once. Neatens up my feed.

  • My Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 (worse name) works fine, but it's bigger than I'd like. Also, the camera is worse than I was expecting.

I'd still be using my old Moto X4 if the power button hadn't failed.

  • First they'd need to start making good smartphones again.

  • Not in the Yangtze anymore :(

  • You'd be better off making stock from the shrimp, rather than trying to puree them and eat them. If they really are as far gone as you're saying, you'll just make a soup that tastes terrible.

On the other hand, if you make stock by simmering them for a few hours in a pot full of water, you'll be able to use the stock to make other dishes.

  • That is a cat whose head is full of thoughts.

  • I love seeing folks support the community like this.

"Here's everything you need to make your own, OR if you can't make one we'll sell you one." Best of both worlds.

  • If one has the mental fortitude to plead, then possibly either:

    1. The court would reject it because the judge would be confident the person was lying. Or,
    2. The person would be sent for psychological evaluation, and if the person was deemed unfit to stand trial, they would continue to remain in a psychiatric hospital until such time that they are not deemed a threat to themself or to others.
  • Are you experiencing any issues with your current setup? I ask because, you're right, things are moving really quickly.

If you aren't having any problems, it might be worth watching the marketplace for a while before upgrading your hot end. Especially if you want a multi filament system, you might eventually want to buy an additional printer.

I also run an Ender 3 V2 v2.2. it prints TPU pretty well without a direct drive upgrade. I'm still running the original hot end. No auto-leveler, no dual-Z kit. I upgraded the main fan, the springs, and the extruder. I added a Z stabilizer.

I've printed quite a bit with it - PLA, TPU, PETG. So, the original hardware can accomplish quite a lot without major upgrades.

I'm not saying this to dissuade you from upgrading. Upgrading is fun!

I'm saying this in case you don't realize how much the printer can accomplish without upgrading. The 3v2 is a beast. Is it perfect? Heck no.

But you didn't mention anything about being unhappy with the output. So it may be worth tinkering more with what you've got before you start swapping more parts.

  • I think you mean:

Latest YouTube update causes massive performance hit.

YouTube causes the performance hit. Not the ad blockers. If ads weren't creating such big performance hits by themselves, folks wouldn't all need to use ad blockers.

  • Thanks! He also seems to like wearing sweaters. Especially when it's chilly out, he's aware they make him warmer.

  • There's not a good way to find out, no. A lot of the data is "anonymous" when collected, and aggregated before it's sold. But it's not hard to de-anonymize the data afterward.

So it's hard to put together a firm trail that shows data from point A gets to point B.

  • He's a regular shorthair. His ears swelled up from illness when he was very young, and they curled back. He's fine now, though his ears stayed that way. :)

  • Cats with sweaters itt?

  • Every distro sucks to someone.

I tried Mint on one of my laptops, and it broke as soon as I installed any updates. It also didn't properly support the laptop's graphics.

Manjaro installed perfectly and runs flawlessly. No issues.

So, as always, different distros for different computers for different folks.
