  • I think that makes sense for items of finite/low quantity like eBay. Then you have to make sure your offer is at least reasonable so it beats other offers. But with an unlimited resource like software you don't have to worry about that.

  • we use google stuff for work, that's the only reason I have them.

as for average people, because they are free and almost no one cares about data monetization.

  • could be nice to have a dedicated always-on device in the kitchen or other family-oriented space. default screen could be like the family calendar or a shopping list or any number of other things.

    edit: also:

The Cupertino giant is said to have received a phenomenal deal where it only has to pay $10 per display for the HomePod, meaning that it has the opportunity to price the product competitively and take on its rivals more effectively.

    ...

Sadly, the pricing details were not mentioned in the report, but given that Google and Amazon have successfully tightened a noose in this category by having a multitude of smart speakers in different pricing brackets, we strongly feel that affordability will give Apple a massive advantage.

  • I bet the glass bottle also has a subjective effect.

  • what exactly is everyone wrong about

  • And girls wore jnncos too! The 2000s truly was an equitable time.

  • the number of times i add a game to my isthereanydeal list and have no idea wtf it is when i get a sale notification.

  • that's not too much different than multi-year financing and buy backs/trade ins. But also I guess outright calling it a "subscription" would be awful optics. No doubt someone even less scrupulous like carriers will be doing this soon enough.

  • To me the simulation argument is just repackaged deism. It's a fun thought experiment but unverifiable.

  • yeah I've done a lot of reading about people's experiences so I'm not expecting it to work perfectly right away. I just found your comment particularly to match my life experience as well up to this point.

  • I was kind of in a long term funk of “everything is meh”

it was always some level of mental effort to get myself to do things

this is my entire life. I've spent a lot of this year with two different psychiatrists and four antidepressants, none of which did anything except a couple fucked with my sleep. Today my doc finally said okay let's test for ADHD, and apparently my results are consistent with ADHD. So now I am here checking how Concerta works for people.

  • except we know Chinese people have been review bombing other games because BMW didn't win. Sure doesn't seem like a joke to them.
