  • and it's common practice on other services like Yelp with sponsored results.

  • I'm not happy about ads, but ads aren't inherently anti-privacy. If they are not targeted at you based on tracking data then I don't see any conflict with privacy. for example, mentioned in the article:

For example, it reportedly considered charging for prioritization of search results in the app. It's also plausible that it could sell the ability to make specific locations on the map more prominent to viewers.

that would suck but it's not a privacy issue.

  • they must see the writing on the wall for reduced hardware sales.

  • disengaging from assholes, absolutely it does. enjoy your imaginary internet points from other assholes.

  • maybe if they said "expensive TVs are not worth it for some people" but 1) that's not what they said, and 2) that's obvious and doesn't need analysis anyway.

  • sure, it was just an extreme example. the point is the article is nonsense.

  • that's just pure speculation. if they design the boards to cool properly during the warranty period there's no reason to think they'll have major issues after that.

  • if you can't tell the difference between a nice OLED and an average LCD then you need your eyeballs checked.

  • i’m guessing older posts, maybe 6+ months. so basically any question you google with an answer on reddit.

  • niche communities that don’t exist on lemmy.

  • yes you'll get what you're looking for but you also open up your network to every other torrent under the sun.

  • this rendering looks awful with no display of any kind while folded and apparently all the microphones and speakers inside the fold.

  • which you can opt out from and/or just not put your TV on a network.
