Recommendations for dumb tech?

  • I rebought my old Walkman for nostalgia WM-FX415, which, according to current reviews, was a decent model.

    A little more techy, I'm currently looking at this portable CD player that has Bluetooth and FM transmit. It's showing as sold out though.

  • We invited another friends' family over to sit at a table in our driveway. Had dinner, chatted, handed out lollies to about 40 kids, gave them compliments on their costumes. The 10 who were without costume got the same lollies and "Happy Halloween". I remember what it is to be a kid.

    The parents chaperoning kids around are usually not in costume.

    As for our decorations and costumes, we had fake spider and snake out, I dressed up family members in a sugar-skull shirt, and I wore a NIN Ghosts shirt.

    Before heading out front, my dad-joke got a groan, when I said, "I am dressed as ghosts!"

  • Holding down on the map --> pressing 'Actions' --> then 'Download map' works very well offline, thank you!

    I did not know about the offline satellite download within OSMand, TIL.

    What is the most open and still usable satellite tileset? Is it MS Hybrid?

    Does not seem to cache the satellite tiles for usage offline.

    Note: I had to enable 'Online sources' to make the underlay option show up.

    Do you know if there is a solution where you can pre-load satellite imagery tiles, for use when away from coverage areas?

    GMaps WV will show 'No internet - Retry' if you are out of coverage areas, and is unusable offline.
