  • The two mirrors(2m x 1.5m) installed in the exposed brick, narrow, central room of the house, make such a massive difference to the amount of light available from the skylight, and give a feeling of extra roominess.

One mirror was down for the day during an AC install, and the feeling in the space was noticeably more closed-in.

  • The ideal would be to use the kitchen-garden time as an example for other lesson concepts. eg.

Area of the garden plots, students measure the length x width, etc.

Volume, measure the amount of water used in a week to maintain the garden.

Vocabulary and spelling of associated horticultural words.

The animal preparation in high-school would be a one off excursion experience, rather than having pens in the school for daily maintenance.

  • 6 hour baths.

    Phone in zip-lock bag.

    Bottle of red water.

Add more hot water when it cools.

Once or twice a year self-care.

  • Most core subjects are about what is possible in the world and give a great rounded understanding of different skills and disciplines available around our planet.

I think food awareness is essential for all young people.

In primary/elementary school, children should have exposure to planting, growing, harvesting, and cooking their own vegetable produce and meals.

In high school, students should be able to kill, prepare, and cook their own animal foodstuffs. Able to opt out of this of course.

Understanding whole foods, cultivation, and livestock for food, would go a long way towards educating people about what quality, healthful food is.

...and that high fructose corn syrup is not food.

  • Agreed, about proof coming from observations of the final product.

Down the track, internal leaks can happen, about the data sets used.

Also, crackers can infiltrate and shed light on data sets used for learning.

  • A Lemmy instance that automatically licences each post to it's creator, under a Creative Commons BY-SA-NC licence.

Can auto-insert a tagline and licence link at the bottom of each post.

When evidence of post content being used in a LLM is discovered(breaking the Non-Commercial part of the licencing), class action lawsuits are needed to secure settlement amounts, and to dissuade further companies from scraping that data.

  • Tip: Scroll down to the videos with 1hr or 2hr playtimes.

  • Well, that sucks.

  • He is exceptional at writing hard sci-fi that unnerves you.

I'm moderately certain, whichever future timeline we move to, there will be aspects of Egan's works.

Modern day Jules Verne, recommended to read at least one book of his.

  • I was not invested in the outcome of the argument, just seeing how far they were willing to take being wrong about aerodynamics/physics. Quite far it turns out.

  • So dumb.

Hour argument, that the final cliff fall scene in Predator 1 was two different jumps in the 2 cuts.

Can see in the first one he is rotating. Second cut is a straight plumb drop into the water.

How were the rotational moments counteracted?

    They weren't, it's two different jumps/takes.

2 friends came up with some hair-brained arguments that you could stop rotating on the way down. (눈_눈)

The only way would be air resistance, and hands/arms is not going to be enough to create drag to counter the rotation.

  • When I don't want an overly strong coffee, I'll grind less beans or add more water.

    Less jangly, and sameish taste.

    The early morning 'weak bean'.

  • ...and scene.

The choice is clear, Ferguson-reruns is the clear winner.

  • If the bowl you are heating is smaller than the radius of the microwave's glass-platter, then no problem, you can offset it to touch the outside of the platter and miss the centrepoint.

If the bowl is larger than the radius, I usually heat for half the time with one side of the bowl touching the outside of the platter, then slide the bowl to touch the opposite side of the platter, and then heat for the other half the cook time.

    Even heat dispersion generally.
