  • Which is fair, I suppose, if you really only have one SATA port left. Then a RAID 1 through that device might work well enough. Wouldn’t be my first choice though… and definitely not for RAID 0. Not that RAID 0 should be anyone’s first choice, nowadays.

  • That’s why I sail the seven sees, especially if it’s about content she might get royalties from.

But also, there hasn’t been anything good since the first fantastic beasts movie…

Also also, I made harry potter themed fuck JK pins, so a few lgbtq friends of mine could still wear their hp merch without endorsing her.

  • Yes exactly. Java runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and any x86 compatible operating system that supports the Java runtime environment. Minecraft bedrock removes support for all of those but Windows.

  • The trend still goes towards HDR, since it’s not just an effect in games. Nearly any modern TV can decode HDR metadata and most streaming services support HDR. Of course, entry level TVs and monitors cannot take advantage of HDR as much but as better TVs get cheaper that’ll spread even more. My TV isn’t particularly amazing but the difference between HDR content and SDR content is clear. If I have a choice, I never watch the SDR version.

HDR isn’t just an effect like bloom. It’s a way of using the capabilities of modern TVs in a way SDR can’t. HDR is made for taking advantage of OLED, quantum dots, high contrast, local dimming, higher colour gamuts and/or the high brightness consumer screens reach nowadays.

So if you wanna bet, I‘d personally bet on HDR being more like the standard in 10 years because screen tech usually only gets better and HDR is the software/firmware implementation to take advantage of those hardware improvements.

  • Yea, back in the day I dreamt about a Minecraft that didn’t run on Java and thus better on the low end hardware I had. In my dreams it just still had all the benefits of the Java edition which is why I now dream of old Java Minecraft

  • And still, even here in Germany, people played victim, the perpetrators just weren’t the people who "freed" us. There was (and still is to some extent) a "we didn’t know about anything about the holocaust, we’re all victims of the evil Nazis" mentality. This was, of course, most prominent in the years after the war because being a Nazi suddenly had consequences. And it’s obviously not true. While a majority of the population might not have known about death camps or the exact conditions in the camps, they certainly knew about the persecution of the jewish community.

Of course, our history classes do now teach about that (meaning that we did know, even though we liked to pretend we didn’t).

  • I mean, free condoms wouldn’t be that bad of an idea, not everybody can take the pill. But didn’t all male contraceptive pills so far fail trials? Not sure if it’s even still worked on…

  • I mean, a Surround mix and a „I only have TV speakers but would like to hear the dialogue“ mix would be an improvement I suppose.

But also, dialogue isn’t always meant to be clearly understandable. Real life isn’t either.

  • Not even higher resolution. I mean, potentially on paper but consoles have been UHD capable(-ish) since the PS4 Pro and higher resolution’s are neither viable nor necessary. So it’ll just upscale a few titles a little less or run some games with a little higher fps…

  • Yea but like, then why bother with android at all? KaiOS seems to do everything you‘d want it to do, if you’re looking for a device that small. Or really just a standalone smartwatch.

When I talk about small phones, I want a phone without compromise (besides maybe battery). I want to be able to use any app, consume content, communicate via mail or chat apps on a useably sized keyboard, etc. I just want it to be below 6“ (Or rather around 5“ considering modern borderless designs). I loved the 4“ iPhone sizes and I love my 5.4“ iPhone 13 mini. Wouldn’t really want a phone bigger than those 5.4“ and also wouldn’t really want a device much smaller in footprint than the old 4“ iphones.

  • Yea, I’m not. And I’m not telling them they have to download anything. I just tell them I’m not on WhatsApp. And either they use one of the other services, including SMS and e-Mail, or it wasn’t that important. Most people manage.

  • Yea but like… why are they allowed to refuse services and you aren’t? Like, I refuse to use whstsapp out of principle (I live in a country where it’s the de facto standard but fuck facebookmeta). Some people I communicate with refuse to use telegram or signal out of convenience. Why should I be the one to budge and give up my principles? I‘m even providing options…
