  • With all due respect, he did everything in his power and spent a lot of political capital executing on the topics in question.

Biden shocked me on what he did for pot, and what he tried to do for student loans. I thought it was hot air.

The question is whether Biden is a fascist because the Far Right sued him and won over student loans, or because the DEA continues to laugh at him when he asks them to change Weed's classification (because he cannot, he can only stop prosecutions and free prisoners, which he has done)

  • This is basically how it goes with "begrudging legalization". The legislature figures out exactly how much they can get away with pushing back while still keeping their seats. There was a little of this in Massachusetts, with the Governor and Mayor both speaking out against legalization when the Question made the ballot.

They dragged their feet for a while on licensing, and gave retails licenses to friends first. If I recall correctly, an overturn vote made it to the next ballot. They rolled it out slower. They jacked up the pot tax an extra 8% (10.75% tax on top of our sales tax AND an optional 3% local tax). They added the silly "5mg per dose of edibles" limit. All stuff they could get away with, but that makes the bill more palatable to pot-haters.

  • Welcome to Republicans. They openly believe that law should never be based on the will of the majority. It's why they draw heirarchy-focused voters. A Republican Vote isn't "they will honor our wants and needs" as much as "I trust them to be my manager, and make hard decisions I might not like"

I think a real government needs a little of both sometimes, but a WHOLE LOT more "will of the majority" and only a little "hard decisions I might not like". They feel the other way around.

  • I think it's more than that, because he flipped on Abortion (which led to that infamous public refusal for Communion by a crazy Southern Priest)

I think it's a "political capital" thing. Even if it's not a high cost, it's just not a priority for him to spend time, effort, and favors to push it across the finish line Federally when it's bound to happen on its own eventually.

He pardoned (almost?) everyone in jail for simple possession and ordered the DEA and DOJ not to pursue or prosecute possession. He basically "cheaper method" decriminalized it. And it kinda makes sense. What's the next president going to do? Waste all their political capital re-igniting a drug-war that nobody wants? They're gonna do what he did with the SALT changes. Let it ride despite the fact some people are pissed because nobody will be THAT pissed at "let it ride". And for the same reason - they won't really care.

  • The Tea Party rode their way up on the coattails of classic Libertarians. The basically want to legalize everything from smoking weed to killing gays and owning people. "Freedom"

When it looks like Republicans are confused and cannibalizing themselves, it's because of the bloc that married Trump.

  • Mother fucker. I have one of these that I've been playing with all week, swearing to GOD if I don't put that shit away it's gonna vanish.

I just put it away where it belongs so I don't lose it.

  • Fair point

But that damn double-saw is one of few bosses that both have one-hit-kill situations that also attempt to hit you with one-hit kills (instead of them being incidental collisions). One could say it's one of the hardest bosses in the game.

It really sucked how many times I had to watch the opening cut-scenes. They went from beautiful to annoying.

  • "Game Over" having to rewatch the opening 6 times in a row was almost enough for me to toss the game out. I ended up putting "super-duper-easy" auto-fight mode on until I reached the first save point.

Who though that having a 1-hit-kill boss 15+ minutes into the game BEFORE the first save point was a good idea?

    Even Soulsbornes aren't that cruel

  • Oh my bad. It's one family of quests

This might sound crazy, but I actually preferred Nier Replicant to Automata in terms of gameplay. I preferred Automata slightly on story and feel, but I also felt like Automata made some really bad mistakes that Nier didn't (the notorious prologue, for example)

If I could ONLY play one of the two once, I think it would be Automata. If I could only play one game 100 times, it would be Replicant. if that makes sense

  • Free games were a great way to "get us there" but not a great way to monetize us. They haven't come up with that. I've bought exactly 3 games on Epic, two that I price-camped because they were too expensive. The free games didn't influence my decision.

The third was a free game where they had the best price around on a "more complete edition". (Pathfinder Kingmaker). I feel like they could've done more of that if they wanted to monetize the free.

But what all these game stores need is to change the rules. GoG tried by making their Galaxy app pretty good at importing others' apps. I feel like someone (Epic? lol) could go all-in supporting and helping maintain an open-source game management app like Playnite, so people who use that app would put Epic on the same tier as Steam, and then Epic would just have to win on an even playing field.

And if Epic provided a "find your price in all services" extension to an app like Playnite, and then just made sure to be $1 cheaper on everything, they'd dominate the market.

Or they could just continue doing what they're doing and keep losing money.

  • Literally no idea what your trying to argue for here. I told the person above me that it doesn't have to be some crazy conspiracy.

Were you trying to respond to him? Or are you one of those people who thinks Putin is a saint? In both cases, I'm the wrong person to reply that way to. I'm the voice of reason here.

  • Absolutely. I'm pretty sure there comes a point where the lore secretly shifts to "wouldn't it be neat if..." and the team has never verbalized what is or isn't intentional, but there was always something there with Pyramid Head. There couldn't NOT be.

Down to the way the last encounter with him ends.

My biggest fear is if they lean into the "ancient prison executioner" twist that never actually made sense taken literally but wasn't too far from how the movie did things.

  • I dunno if that origin story will be a good thing or a bad thing. Either it empowers decades of theorycrafting, or it blows them out of the water entirely.

But then, Pyramidhead really seemed like he had to be an aspect of James, and the movie really made it all weird. PH is the only male enemy in the entire game, and is the most awkwardly sexual monster a gamer could have imagined when SH2 came out (the first time he shows up, we see him...uh..assault and murder a mannequin. Also the ONLY clearly sexual moment in the entire game despite a possible romance existing)... Otherwise it's a game where virtually every enemy you face is gendered female.

With limited spoilers, James's seeming sexual frustration is rumored to be one of the concealed storypoints in SH2... which completes an amazingly complex, mature, and terrifying story

There was a HOLE here. It's gone now. -Silent Hill 2, mysterious 100% optional message at Neely's Bar

Yes, there was a literal hole at that location as well. And some people suggest it's about alcoholism.

There's another message that shows up in Neely's Bar, signed by James, telling him to kill himself but that he'll go to a different place than Mary when he does.

If you take those things that the game doesn't give away for free, and add the actual story beats that I am opting NOT to spoil, then the sexual tension becomes a clear possible explanation.

  • I've gotten into arguments in this instance in WorldNews (if I recall) where I strongly disagreed with communists on something. Nobody ever banned me.

Keep up the good work, mods, and thanks for addressing someone's ban complaint
