It's actually not hard to get Mastodon running behind an existing reverse proxy. It's also not hard to run it in a docker container. I run mine in a docker container with no issues. When version 4.1.4 was released, I just ran a docker-compose pull, and voila, my instant was upgraded. I can share my configs with you if you want. What is your existing reverse proxy server?
I'm glad you point that out. I frequently have to catch myself accidentally exchanging the word quick for easy. They're not interchangeable, and in the wrong context, can be insulting.
Your experience is the exception rather than the rule. It's been shown that rags to riches is a myth perpetrated by capitalism. At one time I had your level of success. It was all taken from me when I became disabled. As a Canadian, you have the distinct advantage of at least some social welfare assistance whereas your neighbor to the south has virtually none.
I would expect nothing less. But to be fair, I'd expect any large corporation to behave this way. Microsoft probably doesn't want to get sued by publicly admitting fault.
That's pretty awesome that you want to go down this route and you'll certainly benefit from the experience. Are you actually building out your lab as training for your career?
While reddit makes further enemies, I laugh because I know the #fediverse will benefit from their outflow. The fediverse will become even more diverse.
I wish I could remember the place my Chicagoan friend took me to but it was great. In my area on the east coast we have a chain called Pizzeria Uno which has a reasonable facsimile of Chicago deep dish. But nothing beats Chi-town's sourdough deep dish pizza!
There is and I just discovered it this afternoon. Go to your profile settings and it will be there. Look for Type and Options fields. Hope this helps some.
In your defense, the installation is a rather terse process. But once you've mastered it, you'll find that you can install Arch in 1/2 the time that it takes to get other Linux distros installed.
