  • It's actually not hard to get Mastodon running behind an existing reverse proxy. It's also not hard to run it in a docker container. I run mine in a docker container with no issues. When version 4.1.4 was released, I just ran a docker-compose pull, and voila, my instant was upgraded. I can share my configs with you if you want. What is your existing reverse proxy server?

  • Your kitty looks fascinated with this.

  • That's true as there are still some CNC machine tools that do use Windows 98 and Windows NT.

  • This is cool for retro computing enthusiasts.

  • I'm glad you point that out. I frequently have to catch myself accidentally exchanging the word quick for easy. They're not interchangeable, and in the wrong context, can be insulting.

  • Shout out to fellow Arch person!

  • I can relate! The best antidepressant for me is immersion in my hobby of open source software and computing. I also enjoy learning for its pure sake.

  • What's really funny is cheese whiz on a steak sounds nasty. But biting into one is like a small piece of heaven.

  • I like them both for different reasons and depending in what I'm in the mood for.

  • On one level that's kind of cool but I still find process management and resource monitoring via the command line much faster and more efficient.

  • I totally forgot about Detroit-style. It's good too!

  • Your experience is the exception rather than the rule. It's been shown that rags to riches is a myth perpetrated by capitalism. At one time I had your level of success. It was all taken from me when I became disabled. As a Canadian, you have the distinct advantage of at least some social welfare assistance whereas your neighbor to the south has virtually none.

  • I would expect nothing less. But to be fair, I'd expect any large corporation to behave this way. Microsoft probably doesn't want to get sued by publicly admitting fault.

  • That's pretty awesome that you want to go down this route and you'll certainly benefit from the experience. Are you actually building out your lab as training for your career?

  • While reddit makes further enemies, I laugh because I know the #fediverse will benefit from their outflow. The fediverse will become even more diverse.

  • I reread your comment and it was actually I who misunderstood you. Apologies for that.

  • I wish I could remember the place my Chicagoan friend took me to but it was great. In my area on the east coast we have a chain called Pizzeria Uno which has a reasonable facsimile of Chicago deep dish. But nothing beats Chi-town's sourdough deep dish pizza!

  • There is and I just discovered it this afternoon. Go to your profile settings and it will be there. Look for Type and Options fields. Hope this helps some.

  • In your defense, the installation is a rather terse process. But once you've mastered it, you'll find that you can install Arch in 1/2 the time that it takes to get other Linux distros installed.
