  • Hmmm thats another way to look at it, you might be right.

But game sizes are getting larger and larger - at least in the AA - AAA area; Maybe Nintendo doesn't want to get locked into a contract for a good that might not be useable? logistics might also be a reason, not having to handle one more type of cartridge.

  • I think the opposite is the case, keycards make much more sense for small titles that are quick to download and don't eat up lots of internal space; also, smaller cartridges will probably cost more for what you get instead of less when buying in bulk. Production capabilities for smaller sizes are on their way out for anything smaller than 64 gb except for specialized storage with super high speeds. In the microsd-card market there is a noticable bump in cost/gb when stepping down from 32gb to 16gb, so i assume that the 32gb will already cost more in bulk for new orders.

  • I suspect, just by looking at the current market regarding microsd cards, that anything smaller than 64gb would actually be MORE expensive than the 64gb. going from 64 -> 32gb adds 2ct/gb, going down to 16 adds nearly 3ct/gb in addition, and i suspect that they would love to price the smaller cards even higher because the margin must be pretty tight by now if i compare the prices with what they were a few years back.

Also, production for smaller sizes has probably shifted down dramatically in the last years when i look at availability.

  • Does the spectacled bear have spectacles or does he cause spectacles wherever he goes? 🤔

  • The RTO discussion the text is about, if you didn't read the text.

What "moralizing corpo worship" do you see in my comment?

    • this isn't AI
    • Even if AI, it would be better than posting the faces of unwilling participants
    • and even more even if AI, i can generate images on my own graphics card, no need for corpos, TYVM, and even if i hadn't a suitable card, there are things like AI Horde where normal people allow others to generate pictures, free of charge (yes, not even paid with any ads or tracking)

You have issues, mate, but i'm pretty sure i cannot help you, better talk to a therapist or smth idc

  • In which biome is the reserve? Any special plants or animals that caught your eye yet?

  • is that important to the discussion?

It's even better than a real photo in this case, because you don't have to worry that any depicted person is real and doesn't want their face plastered over the internet.

I can't wait until the novelty of GenAI wears off so we can resume concentrating on the message instead of the carrier medium. Either that, or until it becomes undetectable, which will probably be in 1-2 years at the current speed.

  • Very mature. Whatever, have it your way.

  • Ok, since you keep talking shit about dbzer0.com, i want to add something here.

First of all, we keep our instance pretty bot-free. It's been a while since i registered, but all applications are getting reviewed before an account is activated. We do have singular bots for administrative things, but you can be sure that db0 would stop obvious bot activity pretty fast.

And regarding AI - it's not that we go out into the fediverse and proselytize. We have a few communities regarding GenAI, but the opposite is the case: we had to implement a rule to stop external mass downvoting and brigading in those communities, because instead of an discussion about the image generated, external users started (always the same) discussions about how evil GenAI is.

So, no blocking necessary, except the communities you don't want to interact with :-) Have a nice day :)

  • Wasn't the title originally the book her mother wrote?

  • And that is exactly the situation in Russia: it's an

    • right-nationalist ("rescuing" suppressed people from the evil Ukraine - that one is super ironic because it's exactly the same argumentation Germany used with the Sudetendeutsche)
    • authoritarian (arrests for holding up empty pieces of paper, drafting for the war - but only in the poor areas far away from Moscow) regime
    • centered on cultural identity (anti-gay laws, "restoring the CCCP", persisting propaganda comparing the Ukraine war with WW2, "we have to defend ourselves from NATO)

It's pretty late, so i don't repeat the exercise for China or bring up more examples - i'm pretty sure that if you try to counter my points someone else will give you more examples.

  • You ignore 50% of the political compass here - authoritarianism sucks just as much as fascism or unbridled capitalism.

  • but the only way to break through this is to change the platform. Since both of them already keep their posts equal on both sites, it makes switching easier for everyone; removing their content from Xitter would be an incentive for others to switch.

The ideal way would be to try and band together a large amount of "regular posters" and completely switch on an agreed date together; that would have a pull effect for others to do the same.

  • It seems that multiple people don't get what you are trying to say, and i would really like to know. if you have the time, could you elaborate?

  • and we are talking about reasons why people are still there - those two aren't one, because you can read their posts somewhere else too. Except if you meant that people are still there because those two are still there.

  • It does not restrict them per se, it's just that the mechanics of what to show you are either simply based on posting time, or amount of "interactions" or "interactions/time" or similar simple algorithms. It would be possible to analyze posts for specific content and show you for example ragebait only, but i doubt that pull request would be accepted - you would probably have to make a fork of your fediverse platform and implement it there.

  • I did something similar, was deep in the gothic scene at the time, put on my best makeup and goth bling, came with my equally goth gf, and behaved pretty out of it. My school time was hell, so it was fair retribution.
