  • Thank you so much for trying it out! This truly is a very early prototype I quickly threw together. Given how much interest Lemmy has for the extension I will keep actively developing it. Maybe someday I can reach a state where the extension will be actually useful to you.

  • I couldn't agree more. Describing the billionaire stream of consciousness that we're being inundated with as "a DDOS attack" is brilliant. That is exactly how I see it.

I want to take back some control over when I choose to read about these people.

  • Nah, let's look at daily screenshots of Elon's tweets while we get fucked in the ass. In the end, aren't we still getting fucked?

I'd rather schedule the fuckings for 9pm Sunday evenings when I disable my plugin for 30 minutes and catch up.

  • Why can't I do both? ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am already protesting so many of their services and products.

I do not wish for their stream of consciousness to invade my internet 24/7. I can easily disable my plugin and get a general idea of what they've been up to whenever I feel like it.

  • I try to avoid corpo media as well! But still... if you sort this community by the Top posts in last 24 hours there are a handful of posts about Elon Musk and friends. At least those of us who browse the desktop version of Lemmy can ignore such posts.

  • I actually agree with you in theory! But in practice, the super rich seem to crave so much of our attention. We are all being inundated with their daily stream of consciousness and that's what I'd love to help put a stop to.

For example, I truly believe that a certain manchild destroyed nearly 2 decades of brand recognition (twitter) just so he could take over the headlines yet again. I do not use his platform anymore, nor do I really care what he chooses to call it tomorrow.

People like that are not worth our brain cycles.

  • I laughed out loud at this suggestion. Love it. I can imagine this could lead to some confusion if a user blocks a common name, like John Smith... but let me give it some more thought!

  • This is a great suggestion and is pretty similar to what some of the other commenters also requested. I am thinking to support multiple modes:

    • Blur The Rich (current prototype)
    • Block The Rich (your request)
    • Mock The Rich (replace the names of these billionaires with less flattering nicknames e.g. "Space Karen", etc)
  • In the current form, it tries its best to blur the images and the parts of the article that directly reference the billionaire ๐Ÿ˜Š. But I plan to add a whole suite of user options if there is sufficient interest!

  • Iโ€™m also playing Yakuza 0! At times I question if Iโ€™m even enjoying myself but then 10 minutes later inevitably thereโ€™s some awesome story bit that hooks me right back in. Also I legitimately laugh out loud during some sequences which is getting more and more rare as I get older. Itโ€™s a very good game โ˜บ๏ธ.

  • I just want to say that this is by far the most responsive and beautiful PWA app I have ever seen. But after trying some alternative native iOS apps today (like Bean for Lemmy) I do think they make for a smoother and more pleasant Lemmy experience. I hate that because Iโ€™m a Voyager fan boy!

  • Iโ€™ll be praying for tap to collapse as well ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I love the placement of the upvote/downvote buttons on the posts in All / Subscribed / Local. Any possibility of having a similar design for individual comments as well?

It would be very convenient for my single hand usage of the app versus having to reach all the way to the left to upvote ๐Ÿ˜Š.

  • Beautiful app! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future iterations. Looking forward to you implementing the ability to collapse comments, vote on comments, etc.

  • Itโ€™s pretty wild that I have the same exact tendencies. Are you (or were you) super into finances? That was my thing for a very long time. I was trying to optimize every purchase, striving for an earlier retirement, and so on. It became pretty unhealthy because for years I was planning and living for some distant future instead of enjoying the moment.

  • I relate to your comment so much. Iโ€™ve actually been trying to โ€œgo backโ€ by making more time for myself. Simple things like taking naps, playing my console (instead of just watching YouTube videos about it), getting more physical activity in, etc. I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™ll ever fully reconnect to my inner child but Iโ€™m closer than I was a few years ago thatโ€™s for sure.

  • They used end-to-end encryption where the sender stuffed the message into one end of a pigeon and the receiver would pull it out of the other end. The opposing forces didnโ€™t have the time to check every single pigeon for intel so it did the trick until some genius decided to standardize putting an โ€œIntel Insideโ€ sticker on the fastest carrier pigeons.

  • I would buy Reddit and convert it into a Lemmy instance.
