  • Aren’t most current houses in Japan built for like 20/30 yrs? They even have a weird lease system for land or something along those lines where you don’t own the land where you build. I don’t think they are much into generational housing; that would be more of a thing in Europe where houses 100+ aren’t uncommon.

  • It’s the sharing & cross enrichment that would bother me. That your unemployment office keeps a CRM with the info makes sense. That LEA has it all and more together with the gods know what else is what I would object to. Same for how service providers store that info; there’s a fine line between storing enough and too much. Or too long. And not everything needs to be tied forever to the customer ; sometimes a hash or whatever does wonder for the legitimate purpose. Storing more is often « just in case I can market the data later » which I’m personally not agreeing with.

  • Sure he’s dumb but his failure gives an interesting insight into how wide the US dragnet on its citizens is. A mail address used to apply for unemployment has been indexed somewhere « just in case ». Nice.

  • Yeah but how could they do money alone? Isn’t world economy a multiplayer game? They cut all their allies… I don’t think value can be created in a vacuum; where would they get the war money from?

  • What would be your preferred approach ? I’m on the implementation side of this in a reasonably large company and so far I found the act to be reasonable. It must rely on some interpretation as every piece of such regulation. Same as GDPR for example and yet it’s a very important progress for EU citizens guarantee wise.

  • Depends on the dimension used. « Shoulds » are meaningless. Let’s not assume everyone is doing shit work, awareness is getting there and people are getting more capable to correctly classify data. Anyway assuming correct classification there are techniques that changes classification enough to allow exportation of data to shit countries.
