I feel like people use “D&D” like “Google” when people say “D&D idea” they generally mean “any TTRPG idea” and when people say “Google It” they mean “look it up”
If pollinators weren't necessary, human food wouldn't be affected too much. But given we eat plants (and the animals we eat eat plants) hunter-gathering would have the same problem as just continuing farming. Can't gather if there are no plants, can't hunt if the prey starved to death.
I would say It's not really the loss of bugs in general that cause the food chain to collapse, but the loss of pollinating insects specifically that really causes problems.
