  • They’re called broken arrow incidents by the US government.

The Russians have a list as well.

The US has almost detonated a hydrogen bomb over the US state of Georgia. The plane had to ditch its bomb due to an engine issue, and all but one of the lockouts failed.

The Cold War was a nutty time, both sides had enough nuclear armed planes flying to decapitate the other side at a moments notice. Accidents were bound to happen.

There’s also been incidents on both sides where launch detection systems have falsely identified nuclear launches, and only the intervention of a few people prevented a retaliatory launch.

    Nukes are stupid.

  • Tape is also difficult to steal. The machines to read the tapes are expensive and uncommon, a tape reading machine requires no internet connection, meaning it can’t be subject to man-in-the-middle attacks, and the physical storage devices can be secured and guarded when not in use.

This fucking idiot is gonna lose the plans for our nukes, isn’t he. Just like when he disabled half of twitter because he physically yanked a server rack out of the building without knowing what it did.

  • The JFK files that trump stupidly forced to be released with no redactions, confirms that the CIA has deals with news companies to make the CIA and Government in general look better in the press.

We haven’t had a free press in half a century or more.

  • Half the shit he’s done has required congressional authority.

Congress is full of fascist shit lickers and is fully complicit in all of these violations to the constitution. They could have impeached him weeks ago for setting up DOGE or enacting tariffs without congressional approval, instead they sit back and act like they can do nothing.

  • I don’t know if people will hit the banks.

Back on black Tuesday, most things were bought with cash.

Now everyone either uses debit or credit. I don’t think there will be the big of a demand for cash unless one of the big banks says it has run out.

I do think that the credit market might implode within 6 months, as many Americans will probably forgo paying their debt to buy food for the week, and the credit companies will not have the capacity to squeeze blood from that many stones at once.

If consumer credit crashes, then the consumer economy essentially collapses, as a huge chunk of the population essentially lives on a knife edge between their bank balance and credit limits.

I give it at least a month before this all really starts to go tits up.

Anyway, I’m gonna go buy some waterproof storage bins and about 500 pounds of rice and beans tomorrow, just because that’s my new hobby.

  • I spent a good chunk of this paycheck on car parts for my car and my wife’s.

Breaks, oil and air filters, enough for 3 years of maintenance.

Last month was parts for the furnace.

Most of the affordable stuff is made over seas.

If you can, I suggest also stocking up on repair materials. Parts are going to skyrocket in price very soon, and it’s going to become very expensive to even do regular maintenance on most mechanical equipment.

  • The US is likely never going to be a manufacturing powerhouse again.

Americans love the idea of buying American made products, but not the cost and certainly not the labor that actually goes into making them at scale.

Certainly some things need to be produced domestically, and still are, either because it’s expensive or impractical to ship them, or because it’s a national security concern. But the vast majority of products your typical American buys will never be made here, because they would instantly become luxury items.

  • Yes, but what this movie failed to anticipate was the visceral anger I feel when I hear that stupid AI generated voice. I’ve seen too many fake videos or straight up scams using it that I now instinctively mistrust any voice that sounds like male or femaleAI.wav.

Could never fall in love with AI voice, would always assume it was sent to steal my data so some kid can steal my identify.

  • This has the plot of a CBS show.

19 year old hacker kid gets contracted to work for the government because he’s “the best”

Except this is the real world where 19 year olds aren’t good at much of anything beyond learning that dating sucks and unlimited masturbating is fun.

Guarantee you this kid got hired because he can use ChatGPT to generate code that barely does what he wants.

Also guarantee you this kid is also the target of honeypot stings from every intelligence agency outside of America, plus maybe a few inside, and he will fall for it and divulge dangerous information.
