  • Don’t know where the fuck you’ve been shopping, but my Costco had amazing customer service.

Bought a desk from them recently, and the one I bought was missing the screws for assembly.

I shittly packaged it back up, took it back. Stood in line for 5 minutes with my receipt, and they exchanged it without even looking. Even helped me load the new one into my trunk.

    10/10, would purchase furniture again.

  • I do think America needs better mental healthcare and maybe some licensing requirements on firearms.

I also think those licenses should let me buy any firearm if I pass the qualifications.

But I digress, an armed minority is harder to oppress. If every time the feds try to arrest someone, it turns into fucking wako, they will be more hesitant to harass people.

  • You know how a trial works, right?

He still has to stand trial and be convicted by a trial of his peers.

Even if the evidence is overwhelming, the jury still has to issue a verdict.

It would hardly be the first time there’s a hung jury or even a nullified jury.

You need to learn how the justice system actually works, instead of watching law and order.

  • No, he’s accused of killing someone.

Accused with evidence that has a contradictory history over the course of the manhunt.

But he’s not a criminal until he’s convicted by a jury of his peers.

  • You guys are finding fish?

The lake and streams by my house used have so many fish in the early summer that I’d reach in and grab them with my hands as a kid. That was only 20 years ago.

Now I’m lucky if I see a single fish on a hike.

The results of the bug-pocalypse are starting to show, and it’s going to be exponentially worse over the next few years.

  • The main issue, although there were many, was that the engines could not be test fired.

The engines used ablative nozzles, so once you started the engine, the nozzle would be consumed, and any test fired engine would have to be completely rebuilt. So, the soviets only tested engines from each batch, I think it was something like 1 in 4 or 1 in 6 engines were tested. That sounds reasonable until you realize the N1 first stage consisted of 30 engines.

There was basically no way to tell if they’d built a bomb or a rocket until they lit it off. Turns out they built a bomb every time.

  • Multiple outlets including LTT and Gamers Nexus have debunked this.

The only thing you may have to do if you notice unusual performance is reapply thermal paste to the GPU, and that’s only because most thermal paste will dry out after years of sitting around or being used

  • If you don’t have good looks, that’s one thing, you can’t really change that.

But then if you don’t look good and you can’t try to hold a conversation, that’s your problem.

Learn to speak, it’s not hard. go talk to people and gain some confidence. All this talk about poor socialization or being unattractive and creepy just demoralizes people that I’m sure could actually make friends and meet spouses if they didn’t preemptively pull themselves out of the situation before they gave themselves the chance

  • Met my wife online during the pandemic.

Dated a fair few women before her, meeting online and in real life.

I’m not super attractive, and pretty awkward, but I always make the effort to be polite and actually listen instead of waiting to talk, you’d be amazed how far that actually gets you.

  • I love when superstitions are obviously something some parents told their kids because the parent didn’t want a lot of noise after a holiday.

“No, no chores today it’s bad luck, if you make too much noise someone could die” they say holding their head in their hands.

“You have to be quiet and go to bed early on Christmas Eve so that Santa can bring presents” 30 minutes later the parents are quickly shoving presents under the tree.

And kids will just run with that and not question why cleaning in the days after new years is bad luck, although they tend to figure out the Santa one pretty quick.

  • Large planes like that use thrust reversers to stop.

A bird striking the engine will kill that engine.

A dead engine means the plane is harder to control at low airspeed and will start to turn towards the damaged engine.

Once they’re on the ground, pilots will use the thrust reversers to redirect the engine thrust forward and slow the plane down, but thrust reversing with a damaged engine will cause the plane to turn very sharply.

And remember, this can all occur in seconds. It’s easy to judge when you’re sitting in your home, but think about the last time you had a near accident while driving. How close were you to disaster? Are you sure you’d be able to make the right call if a deer jumped in front of your car?

  • MFW, Chicago pizza prices are higher than Germany and people are saying Europe has the most expensive pizzas, while other Americans are paying less than $10 for a pie.
