  • Shoe sizes change throughout life. At 18 i was a 4E width, at 25ish 4E was too narrow and a 6E fits better. Some people also have different variences between feet (ie, half a size difference between left and right foot)

    Sizes also vary between brands/shoes.

  • Best i can do is watered down vinegar and botulism.

  • That comic is still alive!?

  • I achieved jittery once somewhere between the second and third full coffee cup (the medium size paper to go cups from a coffee shop, not glassware cups) of straight espresso 😅

Edit: for the record, DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I could hear my heartbeat loudly for like an hour, and uncomfortably fast for a couple hours after that. The worst part was an absolutely boring day at work with nothing to do.

  • Summer is the worst season. Its hot and the trees are screaming (cicadas), and every bug in a mile radius will find me and bite/sting me.

if i have to go outside I have to slather every exposed piece of skin with chemicals just so i don't get burned by the giant exploding cancer orb in the sky.

  • Why is it so hard to get into peoples heads that one of the most common symptoms of ADHD is abnormal reaction to stimulants?

  • And the butt. Not all cats are particularly good at cleaning, and longer hair back there collects things.

  • ^ this. There is so much chronic pain in my family at all ages. Not to mention rampant diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and severe mental illness. Most of the men on my moms side didn't live much past 60 that we're aware of. And that's just the stuff i know of!

I have no doubt there's plenty more that people took to the grave without disclosing, or never knew about for themselves because they never saw a doctor in their lives.

  • Isn't he like, 2 generations away from immigrants himself? Pretty sure both sides of my family have been here longer than his.

  • I very much spent a few years "developing the Death Star" as it were. And I don't at all regret it. It was some of the most fulfilling research of my life and it taught me a lot of useful skills and has informed my life view. But I'll also always remember what one of my mentors explained to me before putting me in for certain paperwork: Anyone with a soul turns to either activism or alcoholism. And... I am definitely a bit of column A and a bit of column B if you catch my drift.

As someone actively working on getting out from "developing the death star", you hit the nail on the head. I don't regret having done the work, and i learned a lot, but I'm burnt out (mentally and emotionally) and its past time for me to leave.

I wont begrudge someone taking the opportunity. Its a fantastic way to start in IT; get a SEC+ or NET+ cert, more or less guaranteed contractor job if you can get clearance. But it is absolutely still a deal with the devil, and you will get burned if you stick around too long.

  • ^ I am rather fond of not risking shitting myself.
