The thing is... they don't want something that destroys on that scale. Theyre not about destruction, they're about assimilation and absorption. Having a huge laser that destroys a planet in a single shot simply isn't something they'd ever use.
I think I have that ladder... if it's for the same thing I use it for, it's for sitting around being useless until I need to change a lightbulb in the kitchen.
I remember reading a rant on reddit (or something, maybe it was one of those TV Show fact sites) about people who were convinced there was some throwaway line in Voyager that implied you needed matter tanks to store matter for replication.
Turns out the line they were talking about had to do with the matter/anti-matter tanks for the warp drive.
Sometimes fans are just dumb and completely reinterpret canon as whatever they want it to be anyways.
Expansions used to come in disk form, you know. They're not exclusively downloadable. And mods aren't always expansions. Each word contributes something different, even if they have quite a bit of overlap and are often considered synonymous these days.
Yeah, but at that point it's not your time. You're essentially selling your life to someone else... and they're not even using it.
You say you can spend your time writing poetry or reading books... but that doesn't scratch an itch for everyone. Being stuck to a desk or other work station means your options are extremely limited. You can't go out and work on your kit-car, or practice a golf swing, or practice monologues for a one person play... or many other things that require a little more activity than being stuck in a chair for nine hours allows.
Money can get you a lot of things in life... but as yet it can not give you time back in your life.
