  • Take the picture when you're putting groceries away. People tend to buy the same products. So, eventually you'll have a library and you won't have to take pictures anymore. That's what I do.

  • The cardboard I don't mind, it's the packing pillows that I mind (better than the old fashion packing peanuts or bubble wrap, from a recycling perspective). I bring them to Publix for recycling because my local waste company doesn't recycle most plastics. I suspect Publix isn't either, but it's better to try than to just throw them away.

  • Too bad for us all. However, it's not just the entertainment. People are miserable and scared. They want to blame someone for it. No one wants to blame themselves. So, who are you going to blame? That guy over there. Trump is not afraid to point fingers and he's happy to tell people it's not their fault, it's the fault of specific other people AND that they are better than those other people. Just as ue blames everyone else and thinks he's better than everyone else.

  • I learned a huge number of words from dictionaries and vocabulary books in school. Some I learned from context in other books. All three are being banned. Discussions of certain words are also banned.

Further, it is not malicious compliance. It is CYA. When you do something they don't like that's not against the rules, they'll pull this shit out as an excuse to can them. Then, they'll ban the thing they didn't like in the first place.

Last, the people around me would largely say I'm pretty smart (not a genius, but I know a fair amount and I'm fairly clever), some of that was just genetic and some of that was my home life, but a lot of that organization of learning and processes came from my formal education, which was all public schools and universities. I would not be anywhere near as successful now without it. Kids in Florida today are taking a hit. They won't be as competitive as people from states where this isn't happening.

  • How do you explain cereal being $8 a box, when it was $5 pre-COVID or the million other products that now cost more? There are recordings of board meetings that were leaked of board members admitting that they inflated prices or unnecessarily kept prices inflated because they knew people would pay it.

  • Except that landlords are coming together to set prices so that they can all set them high. I don't remember what the group is called, but someone was discussing it a while back. Doesn't have to be a monopoly if they're conspiring, which is what is happening with so many consumer goods and services.

  • I was also surprised by the low number, and thought it might be a "first installment" with a sunk-loss mindset. I would expect a number with a B behind it. The future of the world's economy, assuming it doesn't all crash due to climate change, may be dependent on this investment.
