  • I totally agree with your whole position. This isn't a score keeping exercise. When you spend time with someone, you should feel happy. Not necessarily all the time, but you shouldn't feel drained, angry, sad, anxious, or self conscious the majority of the time. A significant part of your mental health comes from what you do and who you are with. People need to learn what they can handle and set healthy boundaries. I've cut out significant people from my life, people who made no effort to contribute to my happiness because they were only focused on their own for YEARS. I don't have time for that. I'm glad I learned this in my younger years.

  • Precisely. Imagine someone doing something to you that you do not want, something that takes away your sense of autonomy, something that humiliates you. You know if you say something, some people will accuse YOU of doing something wrong, instead of your attacker. Now imagine that person has tons of money, and through that money tons of power. You know if you say anything about being attacked, it could hurt that person, and that person will use their money and power to make your life harder. You also know that even if everything goes best case scenario, it will be terribly hard, humiliating, and your personal life (and maybe some of your own behavior) will be out there for everyone to see. Then, think of all the ways it could be a worse outcome. I don't fault anyone for not coming forward. If I were a target for this behavior, I'd like to think that I would fight, but who knows what I would actually do. I hope I never have to find out.

  • Two things:

    • Did your friends know you were going to have a bunch of food and they were expected to eat it?
    • Was your party at a time that people normally eat?

I find that if it's too early/late or if you didn't tell them what was expected, your results are suboptimal. Could just be your friends, though.

  • And if you are registered, a great day to verify.

Someone from my family was just purged due to unverifiable address. Of course, they mailed her a notification of this, and she hasn't moved since the last presidential election, and has voted since. Oh, and she's registered as a Democrat in a Republican -led state.

  • It is dumb, and not the reason anyone should not vote for him. That said, someone who foreign leaders don't want to be in a room with could present a problem.

I hope this article doesn't convince people, but instead they are convinced by the many, many others showing he is criminal and selfish. It is somewhat satisfying to have someone you really dislike have other undesirable qualities.
