Communism (from Latin communis 'common, universal')[1][2] is a sociopolitical, philosophical, and economic ideology within the socialist movement,[1] whose goal is the creation of a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered on common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange that allocates products in society based on need.[3][4][5] A communist society entails the absence of private property and social classes,[1] and ultimately money[6] and the state.[7][8][9]

Let's see how the USSR performed against this definition of communism.
- Common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange that allocates products in society based on need.
Kind of, the state owned most means of production and distributed products. Arguably based on Russian need rather than any other Soviet republic's need. Let's be generous and say partial pass for this one. - Absence of private property and social classes
Presumably this is private property as in the distinction between personal and private property set out by Proudhon. In that regard, as the state owned most all private property, in a way it was absent. But the state still owned it, and the state is counter to communism. Social classes still remained. - Ultimately money
Still existed. - The state.
That definitely still existed.
So what part of the USSR was real communism? Kind of common ownership of the means of production and kind of the absence of private property. All other criteria were failed.
Aye, true progress was being made and that couldn't be allowed to happen. Germany's Blitzkrieg tactics were practised on Spain before they began their expansion.
I tried but I have an unfortunate case of bees in my brain so I didn't finish it. Need to give it another go. The portion that I read was interesting though!

They will have links to local protest and activist groups.
Ask them what they need. They will be the most in the know for your area.
You may have a skill that they require that you could do in you free time, you may just be an extra body to help carry items, or pad out a protest. Financial donations might help but don't feel obliged if you're not in a position to. People power is more important than financial power.
Encourage friends and family to do similar.
Try not to feel mad as everyone around you continues life as normal and accuses you of being a paranoid conspiracy theorist.
Read, be informed of what you're resisting and why.
Stay hopeful. Don't let the bastards grind you down.
A family that may not exist once the Nazis have carte blanche. Do you think resistance movements in other countries don't also have families to feed? They still manage multi day resistance. If you go home after one day then you achieve nothing. I know there's a huge wealth gap in America but there's still huge swathes of suburbia who can survive without income for a while. Despite what you've been led to believe there's more to life than generating money. Stand up for it.
Believe it or not, I have. Nothing to do with No Kings though, because if you look at my server name I'm across the pond and have other problems to deal with.
I'm not denying some people are doing things. But not enough. Not nearly enough. Trump's approval ratings are still in the mid to high 40s ffs.
That excuse might fly in most countries, but not in one specifically designed to resist turning into a dictatorship. One that has spent its history going around the world telling (and violently forcing) other countries how to run their country. One that has very loudly, very vocally, decried dictatorships and puffed up it's chest declaring it to be the pinnacle of democracy, liberty, and freedom. Constantly, loudly, saying that all those school shootings are just unfortunate collateral damage because the population requires guns to resist tyranny. Where's these checks and balances we always hear about? Where's the resistance to tyranny? Where is the land of the brave and the home of the free?
Too many Americans don't care, they only want money or their bread and circuses. Politics be damned. Convince those greedy, selfish, lazy fucks to care or risk being doomed to dictatorship for a very long time.
My comment, obviously, doesn't encompass all Americans. I'm not xenophobic. But it does encompass a large enough percentage that a well documented fascist dictatorship is being allowed to happen. One where the dictator said he would be one on day one, and he was still voted for. One where the plan was published online for all to read in advance, and nothing was done.
No Kings was huge, but then it fizzled out. And each day that passes allows the Republicans a stronger and stronger hold, as they arrest and deport those who may create resistance.
First they came for the socialists immigrants...

Fada beò an Spàinn!
Showed up for one day, and then went back to work the next day after letting off some steam.
Trump is still in charge. You still have a dictator.
ICE still does what it wants. Masked unidentifiable men are still kidnapping people off the streets.
America is being destroyed at record pace and "the land of the brave" have done very little so far to stop it.
The Iraq war 2 protests had record numbers but it still happened. Protest needs to either be sustained over a period of time or combined with other actions. So far, No Kings hasn't done that and it's therefore achieved nothing.
Join the club, our communities have never recovered from it, but the lords made plenty of money
As human beings, our interests, philosophies, politics, etc, yes.
As workers in a job, not so much. The analogy works in that scenario. We all conform, to varying degrees, to the groups that we join. Especially when that group is your full time employ, where you spend most of your time and gain most of your money.
There's a HBO show called The Wire that is amazing, and I would recommend to anyone to watch, but particularly to yourself because "Simon has said that despite its framing as a crime drama, the show is "really about the American city, and about how we live together. It's about how institutions have an effect on individuals. Whether one is a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge or a lawyer, all are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution to which they are committed."[5]"

Warning: it is slow paced, it's more like reading a book on your screen than watching a traditional TV show, but it's worth it
I heard it was a special military operation, only meant to last 3 days.
Trump's only on board because he thought it was Operation Jailbait
The best bit of your nonsense is where you say composting isn't composting
I'm not maintaining most of my shit, half-assed maintaining some, and meticulously maintaining some (veg patch).
The meticulous part doesn't do well unless the unmaintained part is left to do its thing. When people interfere it suffers. That's how nature and biodiversity work. Leave it to do its thing and generally it works out itself. Every now and then you may need to intervene if something is becoming problematic and choking out everything else, but generally nature knows what it's doing.
The thing that makes not maintaining your shit some great intentional effort, is the constant battle against other humans who wish to cut everything down and maintain order. If you're a sole owner you can tell them to fuck off, but if members of your family disagree or it's a communal space, that may be far more difficult.
Funny you chose those plants in particular though, because dandelions and various types of thistle are both recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society as being of particular aid to pollinator insects.

Abuse of terrorism laws to repress opinions the government disagrees with. Who could have seen this coming when those laws were introduced!
Yeah I was a knob, sorry.
I still don't think it's really relevant to the community but I could have phrased that better, and tbh there's probably not a glamping community of any size worth posting to so I can understand why you posted here.
That's fair. I'll admit I was a bit of a dick. It was 3am and I was dying from allergies so probably shouldn't have been posting whilst cranky.
Apologies OP!
All things back-country camping!
https://sh.itjust.works/c/camping
There's nothing back country about this, or really even camping. It's on a wooden deck ffs, it's a permanent structure.
It's a nice picture and looks to be a nice holiday, but it isn't camping and I don't think in the spirit of the community.
If that's camping then walking to the shops and back is hiking.
That's just renting a lodge but the lodge owners are too cheap to build a proper structure.
Sweet, ta! I listened to The History of Rome a few years ago so I'll check this one out.
