  • Lmao I can't wait until you and your comrades try to start the revolution, shit is going to be hilarious 🤣

Also why tf does everyone on hexbear put their pronouns in their username on a site that emphasizes anonymous interactions. No one cares about what you like to be called.

  • That makes perfect sense though. The UK government subsidizes/funds the universities, and in turn domestic students are more likely to have higher paying jobs and pay more tax. Foreign students are more likely to leave after graduating, so no tax for the government once they go.

    Australia has a similar system.

  • Well said. I see a considerable number of people online advocating going back to harsh restrictions, when in real life no one I know asks for that even when they are vulnerable. The reality is that there isn't the public will to go back to restrictions like at the beginning of the pandemic, and the situation is better than it was. It would be impossible to stamp it out anyway, we just need to learn to live with it.

  • Putting the blame for 9/11 on the FBI is not fair. They were working on several al-Qaeda investigations, and knew the identities of several people who ended up being hijackers. The CIA, however, refused to share crucial information with them - including the fact that they had entered the US.

I'm not saying they have done no wrong, but the CIA had access to much more intel than they did.

  • Yeh it's not wrong to have different opinions but goddamn is kinda boring to have the same views, arguments, discussions, etc. As much as they like to think otherwise, most people on here are in the definite minority irl.

  • I don't know about derogatory. Language evolves and changes, and at some point the term 'third world' entered common usage as being equivalent to 'developing nations'. I remember being in primary school 30 years ago and the term was used that way, and definitely not in a derogatory sense.

  • the real cause of the either real or perceived climate change bc a lot of data seems to be bullshit.

What climate data is bullshit? And what evidence do you have for your superheating core theory? That's not centrism, that's just making shit up.

  • That's rather simplistic, though to be fair reducing politics to left and right is oversimplifying anyway. There are many variations of right and left ideology. For example, people on this site tend to identify left wing politics as anti-capitalist when leftism can definitely include capitalism in a multitude of ways.

Politics is complicated, because people are complicated. There will be some left and right ideologies that require or demand strict adherence, but that's not true of everything.

  • Why do you need mining or artificial scarcity at all? Yes, CPU mining is more 'efficient', but what is the point? And why are all (as far as I can tell) crypto currencies deflationary? It encourages hoarding rather than spending and investment which can be economically devestating. Maybe that doesn't matter for black market usage, but there are many crypto supporters who see it as the future of actual currency.

BTW Monero is like the one crypto I find kinda interesting, due to the privacy aspects.
