As someone with aphantasia (can't visualize) and no inner voice, I prefer audiobooks, if the narrator is even mediocre. They also work well with my ADHD, since I struggle with mental tasks without multitasking - audiobooks help me do the chores and commute - even if I don't remember the audiobook lol. I frequently have to rewind.
There are ones like August that only add the smart lock on one side and retain the old hardware on the outside. If the battery runs out you just gotta use your key like a plebian. It warns you ahead of time it's low though and I've never had it fail in the half decade I've had it.
It's why I went with an inside only smart lock (I have an August that's been running like a champ for half a decade). A door lock is a deterrent in the first place, and I don't expect it to ever stop someone sufficiently motivated. Hell, I broke through an exterior door by accident when I was a young teen - haven't trusted them since.
However, if some cheat came out (like some of LPL's "just hold a powerful magnet" locks) I'd rather not have an obvious smart lock that can be picked out from the street.
I'll have to check, a cursory look at the documentation definitely makes them seem viable. Those definitely weren't a thing last I checked lol. As for the use case, I have a profile for job 1, 2, personal, and personal 2 (2 being a separate Google account for it's collaborative stuff).
For the most part it should do the trick. I dislike the branding for Mozilla VPN, but I see in the screenshots I can set custom proxy settings which will be nice.
As one of my profiles has a unique set of bookmarks and unique extensions, I'd probably be able to use the containers to substitute what I'm using 3 profiles for right now, and keep a separate profile for the job with unique extensions.
Thanks! Will definitely start migrating stuff over and seeing how it is. If I can still self host the sync backend I'll do that as well.
Every day a new article comes out that slowly convinces me to switch. Chrome's profile switcher was light years ahead of Firefox last I checked, but I'm going to have to check again and see if that's still the case and if so, what I can do to cope.
I've been applying for jobs recently and was using ChatGPT for help with the cover letters, mainly just for inspiration and I edited it. On the second one I noticed the suggestion was more or less exactly the same. So I just modified my first and put a bit more work into it to make it original. Each subsequent one was the same, and I generated a dozen and a half. Useful for picking out things worth highlighting, but I wouldn't be surprised if that first and maybe even second place assumed it was ChatGPT right away lol. Definitely know what it smells like.
Check any guides or info on the phone regarding it. As others are saying, it's stored separately and should survive. However, in my case at least, I can only register an esim on the factory rom, so the recommendation on mine is to register esim before switching.
I don't have a partner and have no clue how I would update it for two, but when I start sleep tracking on my phone it turns off all my lights and turns up the fan. Opposite for waking up / alarm. It's so nice.
I learned shortly after getting my license, because I wanted to be versatile. My first car was a manual, but unfortunately decided to go back to automatic so I could lend my car without having to give a crash course.
I love driving stick it makes the most boring car that much more fun.
I'm an agnostic theist, I believe in the possibility of god(s) or god-like entities.
There is a quote I resonate with by Marcus Aurelius:
Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid.
I love my audio books, so driving isn't a huge complaint. I once drove 12 hours to hang out with family for Thanksgiving (~4 hours) and then drove back (another 12 hours).
My longest ongoing boycott is Nestle. I've probably bought a Nestle product by accident at some point or another, but if I see the logo or know it's a sub brand it's a no go. My newest boycott is LTT/LMG (Linus Media Group).
I left Reddit but I'm not sure if I would qualify that as boycotting. I don't browse there but I still use the search terms for niche information like I did in the past. Reading this thread I see a lot of boycotts that I agree with, but I wouldn't qualify as my own since I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. Take Hobby Lobby, I've never had cause to go there so I've never gone there. If I had cause to go there, I would find an alternative but it's not like I'm actively going out of my way like I do to ignore Nestle products.
I still get Chick-fil-A occasionally, it's one thing I feel guilty about. Not often mind you, like once every few months, but growing up I had fun memories there with people I won't be able to make new memories with, so I find it comforting.
Usually they just check your IP against a list of known VPN IP ranges. But they could also be blocking all IPs from data centers and only allowing residential IPs.
