  • Most of them aren't.

User data are more than post/comment history and likes. Where do you connect from (no matter whether it gives hint about your relationship status or your work and customer), which comments you didn't write, which device you use to connect and more.

Lemmy instance I know, don't collect much data, hence the short term of services and the lack of cookies pop up unlike big (social) media sharing their data with hundreds of " partners"

  • Do it on dedicated communities. I don't see why US election deserve more credit on global communities than French. German or Belgian ones.

Pretty sure there is a /c for US news and politics

  • Issue is that "old people" had to spend their time in the army, sometimes even in a foreign land (Good old time of the colonial war), so kids these day feel so privileged

I mean, we can blame the boomer for a lot of thing, but in the 60's and sometimes 70's (In many countries) young men had no option but do a military service which way involved going to fight to keep the colonies.

  • Babies can get a passport from day 1. Bring the local birth certificate to the consulate and get a passport. It may even be possible to get an emergency one (but I doubt many mother and kids are deemed able to travel internationally within the first 1-2 weeks)

  • I got my Kendo first dan during winter, and work toward the second (and the Iaido first dan).

Obviously not for self defence because I don't carry a katana, but hitting people with swords while yelling is fun. I feel like the whole mold the body and the mind through the sword in order to build better human feels a bit like bullshit. That said, it's a great patience school both with the slow learning and the don't do anything stupid, and wait to be 100% sure before attacking

  • The question isn't how many play, but how many song does your plbylist have.

If you pay Spotify/deezer 9.99 a month this is phe price of 10 song a month. After 5 years it's a 600 songs play list.

If your plbylist aren't that big, it's a loss, if your playlists are bigger, it's a win

  • Do you have a PC with a gaming GPU? If yes, you can run comfyui, automatic1111 or easy diffusion on your PC. It's not that complicated (but require to be familiar with installing/configuring a software. Which considering lemmy's audience is most likely the case)

If not there is tons of online services, some free (with restrictions), some with subscription, some with paying image credits. And you can check the faq of each services for details. Not all online SD services let you use lora, don't ask me why

  • Not even too limit. Just to properly evaluate and tax it if needed.

While you bring only a laptop in carry on, someone may be transporting 15 000€ worth of diamonds for their Korean customer.

Custom also case about illegal goods such as drug and fake brands, but their main job is to ensure that the government properly collects import taxes

  • US are actually a good example of the limit of small government. Not having a mandatory government owned health insurance show low taxes on paper. But average people and companies still need to pay a lot for health insurance. Replacing a tax, by a de facto mandatory payement still means that people don't have disposable income.

Even in European democracies with high taxes and strong government the control on your life isn't that big. Yes you may need a municipal permit rather than a HOA permission or may have a government employed University Dean telling you that you fail the medical school admission test rather than a private bank telling you the same. But in both cases, the government looks like the best option

  • It's not self explanory. It's strongly tied to a culture or even a person.

I don't see anything bad in not being married nor having different skillet than your parents. Let alone honor being used to kill women and in general justify violence from the powerful to the weak

  • Which one I prefer is a good question. On mbin, I like the smoother UI, and the existing Mastodon integration (but not perfect), it seems that old federation problems from kbin are more or less solved.

Feel like that lemmy is still the default app, has more clients (Alexandrie on Web) and sometimes less delay to federated.

We'll see how it evolves in the future.

    Also vous ici :)

  • Actually, I tried to get a mecha first, but it didn't got the cool vibe of the Shooter :)

For reference here is what I done forChallenge 5 a new sport can be fun to re-run-it one year later may-be I try in the week, but I think I'll stay with the Turk shooter cyberboy for this challenge
